Going to be Friday Soon!!! Then Race day

" FRIDAY WILL BE HERE SO SOON"

It's TRUE Sammy Duke is paying some cash for this Weekends Championship Hobby car race, and some driver will walk away with some nice cash at the end of the night. But who going to bring the biggest gun to this all out war, as these Hobby drivers will not be playing.

Look for some great racing Saturday night, and it will be some really close and intense battles,

these cars will be rubbing and pushing and getting it done. This is no time for cry babies to be on the track. if you can't run GET OUT OF THE WAY!.

I look for #07 of Blant Duke to be in the mix, but I am not counting out #3 of Jeff Carter or #29 of Rusty Johnson, who gave Blant a race of his life last Saturday night. That was the best Hobby car race I have seen in a while.

I don't believe #69 Roscoe Collins will make the show, or #92 of Joe Hillman, so that leaves the gates open for some other top drivers, like Jason Causy or William Blair.

All Hobby cars will have to qualify to get a good starting spot, so I know the drivers will be ready for this.

This will be racing at it's best, but remember they may be racing other drivers, but they also will be racing "The Burg" a track that takes no prisoners.

According to the weather, we should get this great race in, and I know Sammy is ready for some big time races, as all the Championship races will be between now and July 4th when the Sportsman race.

Anyway, I hope to see all the fans and friends and drivers at this Saturday nights racing event,
be sure to be there and bring some friends.

Hope all the Enduro drivers are there like Lee Owensby, and Winford Minnix, and and maybe even Steve Parker, who knows who will win this race.

As for as the Crate Cars go, I am sure #16 Tony Kemp should be there, with his fast car , so he should make a race of it chasing down #14 of is it #8 Michael Keener, "Mouth, or Showcase" has been winning and winning and winning.

The Sportsman feature should be a good one, Like Rucker Orr a proven winner, or maybe #13 Roger Cassell, and also we have seen some new light in racing with #25 of Scott Duffey.

I am sure, racing at West Georgia Speedway should be really great Saturday Night, and I am sure that we can get this race in, without any down pours.

Remember Driver's this is CHAMPIONSHIP MONTH, and all classes will have their chance to be the BEST of their class.

Thanks,

RESULTS FOR WGS 6-6- 9

At West Georgia Speedways, drivers meeting, can you spot Sammy Duke?

"BEST HOBBY RACE YET"

How many of you were there at West Georgia Speedway Saturday Night, and seen a dramatic Hobby car race, they profiled drivers Blant Duke and #29 of Rusty Johnson who one week before was involved in in a 3 car crash, that involved, Joe Hillman, William Blair and Rusty. After the dust of that wreck settled, Johnson and Blair had the worst of that end of the battle.

But this night in "HOT" June was going to be different, first off Sammy's car count was down, and that held to a 4 car hobby race. With the premier drivers being Johnson and Blant Duke.

And these two drivers proved what southern dirt track hobby racing was all about, and that is pure, out down right hard racing. CLEAN, because at anytime Rusty could have taken Blant out of the race, but that is not this 40 year old gentleman's style of racing. I really would have liked to see what a driver like #3 Jeff Carter or #69 Roscoe Collins would have done but they never made the show.

Next Saturday night, Sammy Duke is having the first of his Championship races, this week the Hobby cars will be racing for $500 on the line for first place. You know that is a lot of pocket money, so lets see who shows up to try and take home some extra cash.

Hobby drivers be prepared to take home some cash, and feed the family and friends, as the Hobby Championship Night has arrived!

The Modified Mini race was won by long winning driver #6 Richard Bagby, who was back on his mission after being taken out the race in last Night's wreck fest. And Richard never lets him get him down he just comes back like a winning driver and Wins.

Michael "MOUTH", "SHOWCASE" Keener gives Landon home advice as if Landon needs any advice, he has a father that is a big name in racing, Richard Bagby.

The results of the Modified Mini race were:

Winning #6 Richard Bagby

2nd #20 Ryan Heppner

WRONG !!! Chris Upton,Came in 5th !!!

3rd #07 Frank Long

The Enduro race feature, was another race for Winford Minnix to forget, as his #M4 was leading until his motor gave away in a puff of smoke.
"Charge Card" as I call Winford had another bad night, and needs some engine help bad.

So began another night of leading with #91 Lee Owensby, who was leading the way, with #12 Gary Brand following him close and in 3rd, #8 driven by Alton Bowen

But along the way car #77 was sending up smoke and it must have killed every mosquito in Whitesburgh, Ga., I really thought he was toast for the night but believe it or not he finished the race.

The Enduro feature was not a wreck fest, it was more of of a who can blow your engine faster race.

Anyway the finish went as follows:

Winning #91 of Lee Owensby

2nd #12 Gary Brand

3rd #8 Alton Bowen

Now the 4 Hobby cars made there way onto the track, and with 4 cars usually there is no contest of a race, it really means that the race is going to be boring, but wait not this race, as Blant Duke would have his hands full, going against #29 Rusty Johnson, who is known to be a proven track winner
,
Prior to the race, this old man, of 40 , Rusty Johnson, had to climb under the car and fix a broken part, on the DVD I shot you can see the sparks a flying hard and heavy.

This is the story I was starting my BLOG regarding, even Sammy Duke thought this was the best race he had seen in a long time. I mean if Rusty Johnson wanted to several times he could have taken the always aggressive Blant Duke out of the race by spinning him. No this was not the night, and I believe Blant knew he was in a gun fight, because even after he took the checkered flag, he was still seen circling the track, more or less maybe cool down laps, who knows.

But when the race was done, Blant Duke again was the winner, and he knew he had been in a race.

So the final results of the Hobby race was:

Winning #01 Blant Duke

2nd #29 Rusty Johnson

3rd #16 James Taylor

Michael Keener, try' s to sway Sammy Duke about a rule or two, just my opinion, but Sammy has his mind made up, by the way that is Tony Kemp listening in the whiteshirt and shorts.

Now the ever so fast Crate Cars were ready to run, and watching them is half as exciting as watching those super fast Sportsman cars.

Michael "Mouth, Showcase" Keener was in his  orange and blue, crate car, but since his car was in a wreck at Rome on Sunday, he was not driving the number  #8 th at fans were farmilier with, tonight he was in #14 .

This just proves that a number is a number, it takes a good car and a excellant driver to win at the "Burg".

I guess numbers don't matter to him, except winning numbers like $$$ cash, as long as his car is Orange and Blue, you will know "Showcase" Keener is there to race.

The race featured some great drivers, like young and up and coming #89 of Cary Smith, plus veteeran #16 of Tony Kemp

The race proved to be exciting, but the orange and blue #14 of Michael "Mouth, Showcase" Keener proved he was takintg home some more of Sammy Dukes money.

The Crate results were:

Winning  #14 Michael Keener

2nd #16 Tony Kemp

3rd #19 Jeremy Hall

Then it was time, for Intermission, I was so happy because I knew I could go down and enjoy some more food from the concession stand. Good food makes fans happy.

Since the sun had dropped, the weather was cooler and it felt a heck of a lot better than it was when I was walking around the Pit area, talking and meeting some really high profile drivers.

It was amazing to see Abry Merritt back running in the Sportsman class, he has always been a tough driver no matter what class he was in.

Sportsman is where I first met Abry, but later he had to drop down to hobby after he tore up his Sportsman car in a feature race.

One thing for sure is when he is there, he is there to race and race hard. Abry has always had that boyish grin, but when the green drops he becomes another animal. He is hungry and running in the front is where he wants to be, but this was not his night, as he had some car problems and also ran into #25 of Scott Duffey, which messed Merritt's car up, to where he had to pit his car and wait till next Saturday night.

The Sportsman feature was full of the top drivers, like #99 of Rucker Orr, #26 of Fletcher Cavender, and #25 of Scott Duffey, plus drivers like #11 Ryan Law and #13 Roger Cassell, plus other drivers.

When the green flag fell, we were looking for a really exciting race, because two top drivers were on the poll, #26 and #99, so anything was about to happen.

When Keith , West Georgia Speedways. flagman dropped the green flag, Fletcher Cavender fired off and looked like he was pulling away from the feild, only to have Rucker Orr not fire, and what happened next was worse because right under the flagman's stand Fletcher's engine blew, and I mean blew, so he was out of the race and that left.

That left, Ryan Law, Rucker Orr, Scott Duffey and Roger Cassell, plus Rickey Patton, plus 2 or 3 more cars were stll left in the race.

When the race went back under green, Orr was your leader, followed by Ryan Law and chasing him was Scott Duffy, it was amazing to watch, as Orr was pulling away, so I backed my camera out to watch the thrid and forth place battle of Cassell and Duffey, who were going at it.

Ryan Law chased Rucker Orr down, but never had a chance of catching him, he was driving like a mad man, and Scott Duffey was gaining, but he was having trouble with Roger Cassel in his way.

When the Checkered flag fell, #99 Rucker Orr took home another win, and the car we th
ought finished second which was Ryan Law, but he was disqualified, so that gave Scott Duffey his first time running in 2nd place .

The Results of the Sportsman feature were:

Winning #99 Rucker Orr

2nd Scott Duffey

3rd Roger Cassell

See You next Saturday Night,

NAMES SEEM TO HURT?

TO ALL THE FANS OF MICHAEL "MOUTH" KEENER:

I was approached by a driver, Michael "Mouth" Keener, Saturday night, at West Georgia Speedway, and for some reason he took offence that in a earlier blog, I called him "Show Off",

Not meaning anything from the off the cuff remark, I was more or less giving him a compliment.

It seemed he received several phone calls, regarding him being a show off, how and who made the calls I will never know. All I do know is that Michael is a outstanding driver in his Crate car feature, he has proven he can win with almost any car he is diving.

If I offended Mr.Keener I am sorry, and from now on he will not be known as "Show Off" , which was a good way of putting his driving style, I will maybe call him "Show Case", maybe that will make him happy.

Again, sorry for use of words in this hurry some world.

FRIDAY OR YOU READY?

Sitting here waiting, has not been my favorite thing to do, more so when I know drivers that are hard chargers and not afraid to tackle "The Burg".

Racing last Saturday night, became known as a wreck fest that seemed to go on and on and on.

But when it was over, the best drivers won, and that was all that mattered. Some of the amazing drivers were taken out in uncalled for wrecks, like Modified Mini driver Richard Bagby, who I thought cleared the Malay of cars that were spinning and sliding every where. Richard took offence at Frank Longs driving style and after Richard climbed out of his damaged race car, he slung his steering wheel hitting Frank Longs cars. Put it this way he was HOT, but at least he didn't toss his racing helmet, with a cost of $500 dollars. For that much cash, that helmet should be made of pure GOLD.

After the mess was cleared up, and #07 Frank Long went on to a win, things seemed to settle down, except that it was now time for those Enduro cars, to try and race.

The track was ready and so were the driver's, which included #M4 of Winford Minnix, whose "Purple car, is not hard to be seen". I call Winford, "Charge Card", because he has to this day bought a DVD off of me, in all the years I have been filming him race. Also in the line up was the #6 of Eddie Swofford, who has been in some dramatic wrecks, just ask #91 of Lee Owensby.

These are all seasoned racing veterans, but we had a new driver on the track Saturday night, driving a clean looking #55, he is, Steve Parker, and was driving Richie Taylor's, old car.

Steve should have been nervous, but he had Richie Taylor giving him some pre-race instructions

and any time you have a veteran of dirt car track wars, helping you I say you have one leg up.

Out of the field of 14 cars that started the Enduro race, Steve finished 7th and you know he never bent a fender, he was driving like a pro, so I see only better things headed his way.

What thrilled me was to see his wife. after the race, yelling and screaming like he had won the Daytona 500. She was one happy lady, and I know Steve was happy to load the car back on his hauler like it came off and all in one piece.

The pictures above are those of Steve Parker, his crew, and his teacher, Richie Taylor plus the one in the middle is of his wife, cheering him on.

Then the Hobby cars were ready for their race, and just like a possum, Roscoe Collins showed up so late that he had to park car up top since the pit area was packed, he was even so late he missed hot laps, so he was forced to start in the rear of the race feature. Some times that is good then again you have a better chance in being caught up in the big wreck ahead of you, and that is not good.

My attention was focused on the lead car #3 Jeff Carter and the #40 of William Blair, not to mention another racing legend, #92 Joe Hillman. It was amazing that in the middle of all these great drivers was the #01 of Blant Duke plus #K17 of Mark Knight, these were some hard chargers and I have left out the #29 of Rusty Johnson and #47 of Jason Causey. Put it this way this was a all-star pack of Hobby cars, and Collins was at the tale end.

Anytime you have this much talent on the track at one time, something has to give. As as soon as the green flag dropped, we had a race, with #3 Jeff Carter leading the parade into turn one and turn two, and down the back stretch. But Carter was not able to hold off, Blair or Hillman, who made hard runs and bumped him, and later passed Jeff, making it look easy.

So the hobby race was on, and leading the way was #40 of William Blair, and #92 of Joe Hillman, and I know somewhere in this bunch was #29 of Rusty Johnson. Racing was getting wild at the "Burg" and everyone was on edge.
The race would see, Jeff Carter having to be towed off the track, all do to a distributor that gave up on his car, which in a good way was great, because had he still been in the race later he could have been involved in a real wreck, between, Johnson, Hillman and Blair.

As Keith the flagman dropped the green again, we knew some thing was about to happen, but I would have never believed that 3 cars would go 3 wide down the back stretch and head into turn 3 together side by side, with no space to spare. Rusty Johnson in his #29 car seen a opening and was about to split the middle between Hillman and Blair, this would fail to work as Joe's car slip up the track and rubbed Rusty's car pushing him into William Blairs car, needless to say all 3 cars went crazy, and Johnson and Blair would end up with the most damage crashing hard against the fence, while Joe Hillman's car, was spun in circles several times, never got hit, because of some really alert hobby drivers, like Mark Knight.

One thing for sure racing at West Georgia Speedway is always exciting, and never far from having having a car spin. So all driver's have to have their head on straight, because when you are racing at the "Burg" anything at any time can happen.

All this is what makes racing at the "Burg" worth the fans coming to watch because these drivers are all the cream of the crop and they are all willing to take that extra chance.

The Crate race, is exciting, more so when #16 Tony Kemp's car is ready and willing to win.
So for the #8 of Michael "Mouth" Keener has been the car to beat, and when he is there he is the man to beat.
Another great crate car to watch is #89 of Carey Smith, who I nicknamed "Wild Thing" because you never know where he will be, high or low or riding the middle, if you are not watching Smith you need to start.

After we have all refreshed our self's at the concession stand, we can all sit back and watch the Sportsman Feature, that always has some really big guns in the line-up.

One of the top driver's is #99 of Rucker Orr who always puts on a show and never lets out of the gas, he is all go, and never quit.
Also is Alabama native, #11 Ryan Law, who is just a mere 21 years old but drives like a veteran, and this can all be taken since he has been racing for years, in go carts to other car's.

When Law comes to the track he brings, some heavy eaters, who love to grill and cook some great food, nothing like bbq and racing, and having a driver that will be a winner soon.

I was a little upset, as were some scorers as when the green flag dropped, Law bolted to the front, leaving Orr in the dust so to speak, and the yellow came out because they felt that Law jumped the start, maybe he did or maybe he did not, maybe Orr was playing cat and mouse.

On the 2nd restart, Orr took the lead and never looked back, even with Ryan Law chasing him down. In 3rd place was #7 of Steve Nicholson , and running in 4th place was #13 of Roger Cassell, and trying to get around him was young gun, #25 of Scott Duffy, who is a up and coming driver that should win lots of races, he is getting better and better every race.

By the way most of the winning driver's, always order a DVD from me, of every race, because they can always tell how to set up their cars, to run better and win at the BURG.
So if you would like a copy, call me at any time at 770-361-3019 just ask for me, Tino, and I can help you out.
Then maybe next time your car maybe taking a checkered flag.

Any time you want to see racing at it's best, head on down to West Georgia Speedway, located in Whitesburg, Georgia, where racing goes back to the roots, and this is one of the last "Historic" race tracks in the South.

See you Saturday Night, at the race track,

Wreckfest Saturday Night

" Saturday Night Wreck fest, at the Burg"

West Georgia Speedway was more than exciting Saturday Night, as drivers came from all directions to be part of the show and tackle the track to hard to tame, except for a few drivers.

Saturday was a "HOT" day in Georgia and drivers had not raced in 2 weekends in a row, and I know they were ready to show their skills behind the wheel.

NO FULL MOON, just some wild eyed drivers, all wanting to win on the 1st lap or somewhere in between.

The pressure was on, and there were some new drivers to the track, and some that had raced there for years and years.

There were the queens of Dirt car racing at the track, and by that I mean, Richard Bagby's loyal wife of many years, and Joe Hillman's wife, both of ladies have seen the ups and downs of their husbands racing careers.

The Modified Mini race started off with a BANG, and I mean a royal BANG like you would see only in a NASCAR race. It was alm

ost as if I was watching a NASCAR race, and seeing cars wildly spinning, and you see one angry driver, throwing something at another driver, in this case it was not a helmet it was of all things, a steering wheel.

It reminded me of Tony Stewart when he would loose his cool, but then again these cars they race are not cheap, and when a driver works hard all week, and the weekend comes, he is ready to race, and not get taken out of a race early. The driver in question was Richard Bagby who has been winning almost every time he takes the track, he is not cheating, he is just a hard charger, with a will to win. The last time I saw Richard come unglued was years ago, when he was racing at North Georgia Speedway, and some how he was taken out early in a race, of course at that time he was running Late Model, and there are some real expenses in that sport.

If you have never met Richard he is tall, and lean and a racing machine. (I made that up).

But he is tall and lean, and works hard and when he races he races hard. I call him "King", that started years ago when he was driving in the Sportsman features, against another legend, Shane Clanton. Those were some intense battles, and since I was shooting the video, I nicknamed him, "King Richard", sounded good anyway I thought.

The drivers at West Georgia Speedway, have always been good to me, of course there are some that I never speak with, and that's fine also. Most drivers, know me and I know them and we kind of bond, and I make sure that I always treat them with the highest respect.

I am getting Old now and some times I don't feel like being at a HOT race track, but I am there walking around the pit area, taking photo's for when the new book I am writing is released, what's it about? What else Dirt Track racing, and drivers and fans!.

It seemed as ever to collect all the wrecked modified mini cars off the track, but once everyone was back and running #07 Frank Long went on to win the race.

The Modified Mini Results:

WINNER #07 Frank Long

2nd #T3 Todd Brewster

3rd #40 Jay Farmer

Then it was time for the Enduro cars to try their luck at the track most drivers fear, and they put on a show.

I was looking for #91 of Lee Owensby to be a real factor in this race, but his car was

a little off, so the battle was really not what I expected and like I thought #M4 of Winford

Minnix who I nicknamed "Charge Card" showed the way around the track, like he did for years.

The one bright spot in the Enduro race was that we had a new untested driver behind the wheel of his newly purchased car that was Richie Taylor's car, and any car that Richie has owned has been a winner. The new driver is Steve Parker, and as he said he rode around in the back of the field testing his car and his nerves. To be honest, Steve did such a great job, that he finished 7th out, of a 14 car field. Next time he will do better, he didn't even scratch the paint.

Steve did a great job, he finished last but who cares because his car will to the winners circle one day.

The results of the Enduro class feature were:

Winner #M4 Winford Minnix

2nd #6 Eddie Swofford

3rd #91 Lee Owensby

Now that the fans have seen the thrills of the Modified Mini race and the fury of the Enduro class, all eye's were on the Hot Hobby Car feature, in which case all the heavy hitters came and brought their big guns. This was going to be a shootout, and the race was all the fans expected.

This race featured the cream of the hobby crop, from #3 Jeff Carter, to #01 of Blant Duke, with #92 Joe Hillman, #01X Cory Hillman, and #29 Rusty Johnson. Lets not leave out #47 of Jason Causey, #K17 of Mark Knight, #40 of William Blair, and #69 Roscoe Collins, who was the possum in this race.

This was the gunfight that we had all looked for and were amazed to see, Sammy Duke had to be smiling ear to ear.

The top hobby drivers were going to do battle at "The Burg", where the track is known for beating the best.

When the flagman dropped the green flag the race was on, with Jeff Carter showing the way around but that would soon change on lap 2 as Carter and Blair got together, sending Carter backwards, as soon as that happened Joe Hillman, took over and was the new race leader, but not for long as William Blair continued to pressure Joe. One thing for sure Hillman is never a driver to fear, he goes all out to win his race, and tonight was not going to be different except what was about to happen was almost out of a movie.

It was late in the race, and drivers were get ready to make their move or hold their position. When 3 cars were heading into turn 3 at full speed. Joe Hillman in his #92 was on the bottom and #40 William Blair was running the high side, when all of a sudden #29 Rusty Johnson, wanted to split the cars and shoot in between Hillman and Blair, he would try but it didn't work as Hillmans car slid up brushing Johnson's car, and of course Johnson went into William Blair, all the cars went spinning, but Rusty Johnson, and William Blair went into the outer wall, while Joe Hillman was left spinning in the center of the track.

When the dust cleared , you could see Rusty Johnson pulling himself out of his damaged race car, the same for William Blair, except Blair was hurling some things that we can't write about at, Joe Hillman and his crew.

To put it mildly, their racing night was over, as Sammy used his tractor to haul their badly beaten up race cars off the track.

Prior to all of this Jeff Carter who should have been running in 4th place had to be hauled in and it was all because his starter went bad. Maybe that was good for him, because he could have been involved in this mess also.

The race was "RED FLAGED" to get the cars off the track, and when all the cars were at a full stop. and I was not filming, I looked down and to my amazement in 2nd place was #69 of Roscoe Collins while #92 Joe Hillman was in the lead, Joe had one major problem and the was when he was in that 3 car wreck he really messed up his back wheels. They were so bad that when he was cruising around the track before the green dropped again, it looked as if his back wheel was about to come off, and that would be more than dangerous. But like true winner, he was not coming into the pits to check his tire, mainly because he would loose track position, and these were the last laps of this race.

So the shoot out was ready, Hillman in the lead, #69 Roscoe Collins in 2nd place and #01x Cory Hillman in third. This was gone to be the race of races, and when the green flag fell, Hillman with his crazy tires that was worse than a donut, was rounding turn

one and two, but he could not hold the lead, as Roscoe Collins did what Roscoe is famous for, making that pass and making it look easy. As soon as Collins was by Hillman, the checkered flag dropped an Roscoe Collins had won another exciting race at West Georgia Speedway.

The final Results of the Hobby Feature were:

Winner # 69 Roscoe Collins

2nd #92 Joe Hillman

3rd #o1x Cory Hillman

Ok now the fans could take a breath, but without a stop those fast Crate Cars made their way to the track, and when they were lining up I could see that on the pole was #8 Michale "Mouth" Keener, but next to him was #16 of Tony Kemp, also in the race was #19 of Jeremy Hall, and #89 of Carey Smith, in his all orange crate car. Also in the lineup was Shane Barrett who was driving his B77 car.

This race has become a show case for #8 Michael Keener, but I thought maybe #16 of Tony Kemp had something for him, but not on this HOT night, Tony just did not have what it took to out motor Keener. Not even #89 of Carey Smith had what it took, so the race was long, but once it was over h

ad Keener winning again, with Kemp in 2nd place.

The results of the Crate race were:

Winning Again, #8 Michael "Mouth" Keener

2nd #16 Tony Kemp

3rd #B77 Shane Barrett

NOW IT WAS TIME FOR A BREAK AND WE ALL NEED ONE, AS THE CONCESSION STAND WAS OPEN FOR BUSINESS. Lori Duke is in charge, and with her many helpers they manage to feed some really hungry race fans, as well as us old folks. Put it this way, you get service with a smile, and get some great burgers, fries, onion rings, hot dogs, corn dogs, nacho's and cheese, and some good cold drinks.

Now the crowd sat back down to watch the super fast Sportsman cars, who come to race ever Saturday Night at West Georgia Speedway.

Starting on the pole was long time winner #99 Rucker Orr, and along side him was a Alabama native, #11 Ryan Law, who is just 21 year old, and races like a veterean. Also in line were #13 of Roger Cassell, and #7 of Steve Nicholson, and there in the race was the white with orange numbers #25 and man on the move Scott Duffy.

When the flagman dropped the green flag, Ryan Law shot out like a cannon, but it was called back, because they said he jumped the start, and was leaving Rucker in the dust. Again this was a official call. So when there was a restart, this time Orr took his #99 to the front, and he would have no challenges, so since he was leading the battle I began to watch was that of Scott Duffy and Roger Cassell, it seemed like there was no way around Roger. All Law could do is ride in 2nd place chasing Orr, and in 3rd place was Steve Nicholson, with Cassell and Duffy fighting it out.

When the race was over, #99 Rucker Orr took home the cash, while up and coming driver Scott Duffy finished in 4th place.

The results of the SPORTSMAN Feature were:

Winner #99 Rucker Orr

2nd Ryan Law

3rd Steve Nicholson.

Many Thanks,

SUPER WEATHER!

"Super Weather, for a Super Bunch of drivers and fans"

Can it be true?, NO RAIN this weekend, and if so we are going to see some super groups of cars, and fans.

Racing at West Georgia Speedway will again, be the talk of the town, as drivers come fr
om all around racing to win.

I know this is Friday, and as always I put out a BLOG so today is no different.

Friends, and fans, and drivers who I have not seen in a while will be happening this Saturday Night, at the track too hard to tame "The Burg".

The weather forecast is for in the high 80's so bring some water or cold drinks, then again you can always find great food at the concession stand at half time or before the race.

I am re
ally looking forward to the hotly contested Modified Mini race that has been featuring #6 Richard Bagby pulling out some really close wins, he makes his way to the front and if he can stay there he will be there.
But Richard will be racing against some really tough drivers racing against him. Such as #07 of Frank Long, and the upcoming hot driver of the #20 car Ryan Heppner, but lets not leave out any other driver. Because racing here is racing and you never know who will win, on any given Saturday Night.

As I mentio
ned before the Enduro race, should be wild, I am unsure if #91 Lee Owensby will be back after being banned for a week. He is one of the most outstanding drivers and I look for him to return.

If Lee is not racing, I look for #M4 of Winford Minnix "Charge Card" as he is known to me, should take the race easy, then again, he will not be the onl
y car racing, so who knows.

The Hobby car feature should be a classic race, because all the big guns will be shooting for a win, and that means #3 Jeff Carter, who has not been winning should be shooting for a win, he needs it and if his car holds together he will win.

But everyone look out as Blant Duke is back, and his motor is raving and super fast. Blant is a driver that does not look for 2nd place in any race, he goes for the gold and that of course is the checkered flag. When you are racing Blant Duke you bett
er bring your best gun to this gunfight.

But don't look past drivers like #47 of Jason Causey or if #92 Joe Hillman shows up, we should see a real race.
The driver that I wish would return is #69 of famous Roscoe Collins, if anyone can give Blant a run for the money ,he is the man, but then again he won't make the show.

As soon as the race is over, we can feel the thunder of the Crate car features, and since Sammy Duke the owner has really reached out to this fine class of drivers.

Stars like #16 of Tony Kemp, if he is there will make the crate race one worth watching, more so if he is doing battle with a show-off #8 of Michael "Mouth" Keener, who's driving style is not what is expected. He thinks he has the best car on the track, but as Kemp proved he can be beaten on a Saturday Night.
The race also features a young motocross rider turned driver, #89 of Carey Smith who I nicknamed "Wild thing" because you never know where he wil
l be on the track. High or low, Carey will be someplace.
Also this weekend we should see #B17 of Ricky Brady, in his new car, and trying to compete in a rough class.

Then th
e BURGH has there official break, for all the fans to raid the concession stand and get some of the great food that is offered there, like Burgers, Hot Dogs, Fries, Onion Rings and of course Nachos and Cheese and Jalapenos , add a cold drink and everyone can get ready for some exciting Sportsman feature racing.

Once we see the Sportsman cars pull onto the track we all know we are about to witness 25 laps of fast racing action.

Cars to watch are the famous #99 of Rucker Orr, plus that of #G1 Glenn McWaters if he makes the show, plus there are the regulars #13 of Roger C
assell and who knows else may join the crowd maybe #11 Ryan Law may make the show and if so you will see some really racing action out of Law.
Then there is a driver that I really believe is a driver of the future, and will be seeing lots of checkered flags, and that is #25 of Scott Duffy, one of the up and coming hard charging drivers in this tough class of cars.

Racing at West Georgia Speedway is always a treat, and I know that owner and promoter Sammy Duke, is doing his best to make the track one of the most premiere "Historic" Southern Dirt tracks in the South. Located in Whitesburg, Georgia, and a few miles south of Atlanta, this track is a real drivers test, not only on their cars, but on the intense physical challenges it takes
for a real driver. I still say the track can and will beat you, but if you win, you have tamed the track to hard to tame, and you can go home in pride.

This Saturday Night, if you can pry away your asphalt race fans from their favorite track, bring them with you to West Georgia Speedway, once they see dirt cars race, they will forget all about Asphalt racing. Dirt Fans are the best, and they know who is who and what is happening in this demanding sport.

Thanks To All, see you Saturday at West Georgia Speedway,

Tino Patti
