"CHAMPIONSHIP ENDURO RACE, THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, BE THERE!"
This weekend racing, will be super intense, as the Enduro class cars, are featured in a all out race , and the winner walks away with $500 cash, not bad for a short 25 laps.
But who will become the champion for the 2009 season at West Georgia Speedway where racing
is always hard, and fans are well known for their willingness to sit in hot weather in Georgia, and watch some of the best racing in the south.
I am sure that #91 Lee Owensby and of course #M4 of Winford Minnix will be ready as well as other drivers in this tough field of cars, including #12 Gary Brand, and #55 Steven Parker, not to
mention the #6 car, that seems to be all over the track.
West Georgia Speedway, is a Historic track, and the owner Sammy Duke is just as Historic as is his track. Known as "The Burg", this is one of the most historic dirt tracks in the south.
Drivers who race there have gone on to fame at other tracks, but they keep coming back to test the track to hard to tame, because racing can be great, but running in a circle is boring, never a bore at this track, because she will beat you, and your car to pieces, and if you are still standing at the end, you have made it. You are a winner, and you know it.
This weekend looks like triple digit numbers with the temperatures, may be triple digits on the track also, because these enduro boys are not letting anything stop them from winning, the car they bring will be their best.
Saturday the temps will be 98 and that is not counting the heat index, so be well prepared and have plenty of water, gator aid, or power aid or just plain AID!!!, you will need it.
ALL I AM HINTING AT HERE, IS FANS AND DRIVERS BE PREPARED FOR THE HEAT, HAVE PLENTY TO REFRESH YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS, RACING IS HARD ENOUGH WITHOUT THE BLASTING HEAT HERE IN GEORGIA, TAKE CARE OF YOUR FRIENDS!
Those Modified Mini cars should be exciting this week, because last weekend, we saw a new winner emerge, and that was #07 Frank Long, who some how got around #6 Richard Bagby, to win, and that is not like Richard, he usually holds his own, he may have had car problems, I never asked him, all I know is he had the lead and lost it.
Coming in 3rd was #B14 of Bubba Collins who I have yet to meet, always good to meet a driver no matter what class.
Look for the Modified Mini cars to run, hard and wide open, because they have to be tuned up for their race coming up, and the championship cash will be up for grabs.
In the hobby car race, I have know idea if Jeff Carter will be racing, he has camping on his mind, so you never know. We all know Roscoe Colliins has not been back since his winning spin, all I do know he will be back soon, as well as #92 Joe Hillman, who has been absent since he was in the wreck fest in May. Come on back, Roscoe, Joe, and anyone else, lets see if you can outrun the 2009 champion Rusty Johnson, and his team. Beating Blant Duke for the championship is one thing but what happens when Blant has his car racing, and is not driving someone else's car.
I still say, the car to beat now is #29 of Rusty Johnson, soon we will be seeing #3 Jeff Carter in a new fresh car, with speed to win every race, soon so wait he will be back!.
Crate racing, should see some real great drivers whose cars are fast, and I am sure #14 Michael "Mouth, Showcase" Keener, will be more than ready, he does not like to be beaten more
so like he was last weekend. So I am sure he will have his car dialed in, but you know he better bring his best because this warm weather has turned #16 Tony Kemp into a driver that is on his own mission to win!. Kemp blew everyone away, last Saturday night, he had everyone chasing him, and there was no one that had the power to catch Tony. He put on a show in the dust bowl of racing, at West Georgia Speedway.
Tony must be getting his car ready to win, the upcoming soon, Crate car championship, and if he has the same car, he will walk away with some heavy duty money.
When the Sportsman feature comes up, I am wondering if Sammy Duke will hold to his ruling of not letting Rucker Orr run since he refused to tear his car down Saturday night and got a rare DQ.
In doing this Rucker gave the win to 2nd place car, #G1 of Glenn McWaters a easy WIN, and bolted #13 Roger Cassel into 2nd place and #26 of Fletcher Cavander to finish in 3rd place.
#25 of local driver Scott Duffey was showing so much improvement, except for one thing his tires started to go away and when that happens it's almost like he is backing up, he has nothing he can do except circle the track and hope for a good finish.
So if you are not worried about the weather, hey forget your troubles, money, wife, family, dog or cat problems and come on down to West Georgia Speedway, where fans or like a good family and forget your problems.
The racing action will take you away from any problem you have, so give yourself a treat, and enjoy watching racing the good old fashioned way, down at a true historic dirt track.
"The Burg", the track that takes no prisoners.
See you down there, and bring a friend or two,
Thanks ,
