HUMPDAY

Meet the MAN that owns and runs West Georgia Speedway, Mr.Sammy Duke

RACING AT WEST GEORGIA SPEEDWAY COME ON BE THERE”

Ok, now we have another Saturday night of good racing action at West Georgia Speedway.

We have had rumors that there will be a “Modified Mini” Championship race Saturday Night, could it be true?

One problem, star driver and racing legend Richard Bagby will be no where to be found, because when his engine blew, it blew and he still does not have it ready. Racing without Bagby will be a real mixture of emotion from this writer, who has always thought of Richard as one of the class acts in racing.

So if Sammy Duke does have a Modified Mini race, we should see a real battle between Frank Long last week’s easy winner and a battle between Ryan Heppner. I am counting on seeing Huie Stewart at the track; he was not in the line up last week so he must still have had engine problems. But this week I believe if there is any way he can put his red #16 on the track he will have it and we should see a real Championship battle of a race.

As for as the other features I hope we see the new and improved Winford Minnix and also Lee Owensby back with his car in better shape than it was last Saturday Night. He just was not able to catch up with car #02 driven by Blake Duke, who some say Brian Duke was really driving, I have know idea who was behind the wheel do you?
One person I do know that will be racing will be young and talented driver Steven Parker in his #55 car, he and his wife have created “Team Twisted Racing” and to be honest he is one of the up and coming drivers in this tough racing feature, all I can say is Saturday night prior to the race there should be a pray said before the playing of the National Anthem.

The Hobby feature should be more trading paint, as Blant Duke will again defend last weeks win in his super fast #01.
Duke should have some real racing action, with cars like #47 Jason Causey and maybe #57 of Lee McElwanyne, plus we may get a new look at Jeff Carter’s #3 brand new race car, one that looks and drives different than any other car, I know once he has his car dialed in he may become a real force to deal with.
Hope maybe one day we will see the outstanding driver Roscoe Collins in his famous #69 return to the “Burg”, as well as #92 Super Joe Hillman, both of these drivers or surely missed.
I am sure who ever shows up, it should be one great hobby race. So if you have a chance and can bring a friend, please be there.

When the Crate car race starts up, we should see a driver that has been heating up the track and that is a winner, who is own his own mission, in his orange and blue #14 his name is Pete Cochran, and he is the driver to beat.
I hope #16 Tony Kemp shows up, but you never know if he will or if he may not, if he is there be ready for some super crate racing action. Also in the crate feature is talented and quiet soft speaking driver #19 of Jeremy Hall One driver that really showed some real improvement is #89 of Carey Smith, who out dueled #32 of Troy Dixon. It was strange to see Smith’s car out front of Dixon’s car, and at one point of the race Smith showed the power in his car by out motoring Dixon on the long back stretch at the “Burg”. I am wondering if #16 Josh Noles will return and also will #20 of Todd Mitchell will be back.

One thing for sure is that Crate racing at the Burg have become just as exciting as watching the Sportsman cars run. I hope to see you there and let us know who your favorite crate car driver is.

Let’s eat, as the concession stand open for a fury of fans who are hungry and thirsty and need some fuel, before the Sportsman feature.

When the Sportsman car comes on to the track, you know we will be seeing some fast action. Drivers like #99 Rucker Orr will be there and will defend his wins as he has a winning streak and looks like he needs some other drivers to try and stop him.

I have no idea if #18C Shane Criswell will be racing, but I am sure that #B2 of Clifton Moran will be in the action.

Also missing last week was car #25 of Scott Duffey and you know that does not seem right. Hope Scott returns soon, also maybe he will be there and maybe not is super fast driver #G1 of Glenn McWaters. We also hope to see #8 “High Flying” Michael Mills, who we have been missing.

Another young sportsman driver that is learning his way around the track is non other than #28D of Darrell Frick, who with a new car has been making some progress, but you have to remember this is a new car, and the beast has some extra power more than young Darrel has been used too.

So Please be at West Georgia Speedway this Saturday Night at lets get behind these talented drivers.

Many Thanks
