HAVE YOU SEEN THE B-CADET RACE, YET?

With $600 on the line, every B-Cadet driver was out and ready for the action at West Georgia Speedway Saturday Night.

Drivers, like #29 Rusty Johnson, or “Big Money Man”, then you had #3 of Jeff Carter who is always a threat. Look out “Super Joe” was back in his famous #01J car, and when Joe shows up there is going to be a race.
But all eyes were focused on the White and Orange car driven by #B7 of Billy Bright Jr. would had been in a real costly battle last weekend with car #17 of Max Kitchens, later in that race both Bright and Kitchens were out of the race do to severe damage and costly repairs. But never count Billy Bright Jr. out if he can race he will be there and race clean, are so some people say. I mean laying a bumper on your car two or three times is racing, but when you try and take Billy out of a race intentionally now that can get nasty.

Haley, with a friend, Donnie, and Lisa Carter pose for a picture while I was in the pits at WGS.

As I walked the Pit area of West Georgia Speedway I was amazed at all the Orange shirts that were rushing around, I mean if you want to know who is a Bright fan just look at the color of the tee-shirt being worn, if it is “Orange” it means you are a Bright racing fan, or a relative or relation or kin or who knows just a friend, whatever when talking to Billy’s car owner he told me to get my money from his wife, when I asked where she was he pointed to the grandstand and as I gazed up all I could see was a sea of Orange shirts, huddled together, it was amazing, I wanted to meet Susan Bright and also Pebbles Simpson, but how was I going to do this in a sea of Orange. I had one of those “Tino” ideas, I would go to the top of the crowd and yell “Pebbles, or Susan Bright”, and see if that would make them stir. Sure enough I did not have to because there she was in her pretty blonde hair, and then I got to meet Susan Bright, who was also amazing, it was then that I seen and noticed sitting in a chair getting ready to watch the race, “Tim Bright” on of the young stars in the Bright racing team.
Last time I had seem Tim was at Senoia Raceway, and he said after the race he was going hunting, for Deer, Hog, Bear, and Turkey and whatever came his way. All I can say is anyone that takes on a bear in my book is something else. But what can you say he is a Bright.

When I asked Susan how many Bright really drive she said about 10, hey that’s a entire feature race, but I know there would be some protesting when that race was over, maybe even a few torn up race cars. The Bright’s don’t come to a track for 2nd place they want all the marbles.

HAD TO RELAY THIS MESSAGE FROM TIM BRIGHT, HE IS STILL YOUNG AND AVAILABLE, SO LADIES LINE UP!

Then again you had Joe Hillman running in the B-Cadet race, and anytime Joe is on the track you know he is running for 1st place and 2nd doesn’t matter. But add in Randy Johnson, who runs when big cash is on the line and you have some kind of battle brewing, not to mention Jeff Carter. Now let’s not leave out #47 of Jason Causey, who is always in the mix.

Jeff Carters, Worn and beat up race car, was no match for the 30 lap B-Cadet race, it was just worn out.

All in all there were 14 B-Cadet cars, that is correct 14 B-Cadet cars, and one driver that I failed to mention was #22 of William Blair, that’s right “Blair was there”, and his car was ready for the 30 lap race.

It took all 30 laps to get’r’done, with Blair leading the race everyone else had to play chase and catch me if you can, Billy Bright Jr. had been the car that was to be beat but tonight was not his night as some driver took him out of the race spinning his #B7 car up against the inside front straight guard rail.

With #B7 out of the way that left the door open for #01J of “Super Joe” Hillman and the “Hill” will make you drive like you have never driven before, when you see #01J behind you know you had better go and go fast and not make one wrong move or he will pass you and be gone.

Chasing behind Joe was #47 of Jason Causey and behind Jason was running #29 of Rusty Johnson, all proven winners on any dirt track so these 30 laps were not easy ones.

But when the checkered flag was flying it was #22 William Blair out racing #01J of Joe Hillman with #47 of Jason Causey coming in 3rd and in 4th place was none other than #29 of Rusty Johnson. What was even more amazing was that on his cool down lap, the before taking the flag and circling the track his motor blew, and he had to be pushed back into the pit area. It was not a lucky night for Hillman who I guess was pushing Blair hard, so hard that his motor lasted 30 laps and not a lap more.

Congratulations to the $600 B-Cadet Winner, #22 William Blair
Coming in 2nd was #O1J of Joe Hillman
In 3rd place was #47 of Jason Causey
And in 4th place was #29 of Randy Johnson

The race that drew my attention was the hot Hobby car battle that featured drivers like #89 young Carey Smith, and #99 of Ronnie Poole, not to mention #75 of Joe Williamson.

This was a battle royal, with Carey leading the way only to have #99 Ronnie Poole all over Smith’s race car, the battle raged on and on, with Poole looking for a way around Carey Smith’s car but no way young Carey was wanting to loose this race, and when they got together, Carey was sent to the front will Poole was set to the back of the pack. This enraged Poole who looked like he had a winning race car, but when you are sent to the back things take a different look.
This made #81 Robert Hardy happy because he was then sitting in 2nd place and that was better than 4th place.

So when the race was over the winning Hobby car money went to #89 of young Carey Smith, with 2nd place given to #81 Robert Hardy and 3rd place being awarded to #99 Ronnie Poole.

The last race for my night would feature some top Sportsman drivers, like the ever blazing “Racing Jason Williams” in his #73 car, which has been winning every race at WGS.
Then there was the Dash to cash winner #98 of Jimmy Johnson Jr. now that is a name.
Plus also in the race was a class act driver #25 of Scott Duffy who would have to go out early do to car trouble.
But then you had #19 of Michael Paige, who takes after his dad and has that winning attitude. That would be Mr. Chuck Paige.
Add in #11 of Josh Watson and #2 of Trey Watson and you had a Sportsman race ready to run hard and heavy.

But the night would again belong to Racing Jason Williams. In his famous #73 he is the all American Pie champion car.

Tonight Jason was being tracked down by young and talented #19 Michael Paige. #98 Jimmy Johnson Jr. would prove he could race with the best of the drivers as he would go on to finish in the 25 lap Sportsman race in 3rd place.

Racing at “The Burg” or West Georgia Speedway can really get exciting then again you have to know the history behind this old track to really grasp where you are racing at. Sure the facilities may not be state of the art, but by far the track is amazing, and if Senoia could lay this track on that 3/8th track what a track it would be, then again one track is all too itself a different story and every track has there own pit falls.

You will never satisfy a driver, there is always something that could be changed, maybe to help them bend some rules. One thing is for sure West Georgia Speedway is in a class of its own, and running this track takes a mind that is wilder than mine.

I want to thank each and every driver that I meet, on the track or off the track sitting in the grandstands, you never know what you will learn from the mind of a driver, each has something special to add and when you add everything together you come up with some special people.

The Modified Mini race was won by of course #07 Frank Long

The 2 car Enduro street feature was taken by #4 Michael Nelms with #86 Pappy Powell finishing in 2nd, where else would he finish?

Thanks Again,

Tino Patti
