BREWSTER IS THEIR NAME

Joe McWaters Watchs his sons Time, Glenn McWaters #G1 , known as "Mighty Joe"

Ken Orr, Leganardy driver known as "Moonrunner" watches his son Rucker get his Sportsman car ready.

"RACING AT WEST GEORGIA SPEEDWAY"

The Modified Mini race the first race of the night at the “Burg” can be the calling card for all the fans to get ready for the races later that night.

I was not expecting to see the #T3 of Todd Brewster and #3 Allen Brewster show.

The big guns in the modified mini race were at the track but they were not racing, I am speaking about hot shot driver Richard Bagby as well as his all time rival Frank Long. There was young #20 Ryan Heppner and the mystery man, #16 Huie Long, who is a story in his self. I have never met Huie yet but if he is like his crew he has to be a real trip. I can not wait to meet this young man, next Saturday night at West Georgia Speedway.

One thing about the “Burg” it will punish a car and it will take a toil on a driver the next day, it is not pure pleasure running on this historic 3/8th oval clay track. As a matter of fact this can be a real drivers “Nightmare”.

One thing is always true at West Georgia Speedway, promoter and son-in-law Sammy and Brian Duke try and always put on a show for the fans.

The Modified race was looking good, even though it did not have the superstar drivers like Bagby or Long entered in this feature but there was #11 Charles Lancaster, and #20 Ryan Heppner plus the man that had won all 3 races in a row, #16 Huie Stewart, starting in the back of the field. Then to fill in the gaps were #T3 of Todd Brewster and #3 of Allan Brewster.

Who would have known that leading the race #20 Ryan Heppner’s motor would take a dive, and send him to the back of the field.
Then the man that we were watching close was the red #16 of Huie Stewart, and I knew if there was a way, he would find his way to the front of the pack of cars.

The “Burg” is unforgiving, as something went wrong with Stewarts car and he slowly pulled off the track and parked in the infield as his crew like a swarm of ants climbed all over his car, looking for some way to get him back into the race, but as hard as they looked there was nothing that could be done, and Stewarts night was over.

That left all the racing to be done, with 3 cars left on the track, the #T3 of Todd Brewster, the #3 of Allen Brewster and #11 of Charles Lancaster.

So more or less we can now say it was a “BREWSTER” of a night racing.

Next weekend I am hoping to see #6 of Richard Bagby return with a fresh and clean new engine, and we should also see #07 Frank Long back so the Brewster’s as well as Stewart should have some problems although, Stewart has beaten Long in the past 2 races. My question is how he will be racing against the legendary Richard Bagby who has raced in Sportsman, Late Model and now he is racing a modified mini car and is still at the top of his game.

This Modified Mini feature could really shake up to be a really class act race, and I for one am looking forward to seeing Stewart and Bagby on the same track on the same night.

Congratulations to the Brewster’s, for finishing 1 and 2
Also give a hand to #11 Charles Lancaster who came in 3rd in this race that was like of like watching a twilight zone episode.

As we all know the Enduro race has become another race that is one that every fan is ready for, when you have drivers like Winford Minnix, Lee Owensby, Steven Parker, and others you have a real race.

But on this HOT July 25th night, the Enduro car would be driven not by “Lee Lee” Owensby but behind the wheel would sit Kevin Horton who runs in the full size class and is a proven winner there.

When the Green flag fell, it was a massive traffic jam as cars tried to jockey for position and went spinning every where, just like I said, “who wins on the first lap”?

These once nice looking Enduro cars were looking more like they came out of the local junk yard, than race cars.
But as everyone knows, racing is rubbing and if you’re not rubbing you’re not racing, so get out of the way if you can’t drive.

Racing can be heartbreaking, just like this Enduro race with less than 2 laps remaining a car that had been turned and shoved had made his way up to the number 2 position on the track, when all of a sudden a tire went down, and he was out of the race, I mean it was sad to see Steven Parker work his way to the number two position right behind #91 of Kevin Horton and then have a tire go down, with less than 2 laps remaining in a race, that is what you call racing bad luck, then again like I said it was the “Burg”.

Going in to win the Enduro race was that of Kevin Horton in Lee Owensby’s green #91.
Coming in 2nd was #1 of Jeff Moran
And in 3rd was #86 George Purgason

That brought up the Hobby car feature and the stars were out again, with drivers like #01 Blant Duke, #3 Jeff Carter, #57 Lee McElwanyne, and #69 Roscoe Collins, plus #31 of Blake Griffin.

Not making the show was Mark Knight, plus Jason Causey, or someone who is really missed Joe Hillman, or Cory Hillman.

The race was going to be a real barn burner, with Carter starting on the pole with Griffin side by side. This was your race, and every one was ready including all the fans.

Carter and Griffin lead the field around, and when the green flag dropped racing was on, big time Blake Griffin and his #31 blew past everyone and there seemed like no one was catching him. Not even Roscoe Collins, or Blant Duke.

Roscoe Collins is more or less one of the super hobby drivers that have raced for many years, and he has a winning car, but tonight was not his night, even with a late caution he still was unable to catch Blake Griffin. There was a point of the race that Blant Duke tried to make a move around Collins coming out of turn 2 and Collins showed him some of his backside and that made Blant slow and crawl down the backstretch, something Blant is not used to doing. Because Blant Duke is a winner and when he is on and his car is right he can beat anyone.
Saturday night, there was no one catching Griffin and he would go on to win, with ease, well maybe not, as Roscoe had one last chance but the white flag was flying and Collins car did not have what it always has had. I believe his tires were gone away; then again I am not a driver or confess to be, so I will leave it up to you to make your decision as to what happened.
Congratulations Blake Griffin on winning the Hobby car feature
Coming in 2nd was #69 Roscoe Collins
3rd was #01 Blant Duke

When the Crate cars came out we had a total of only 4 cars, but they were fast cars, #14 Pete Cochran along with #16 Tony Kemp plus #19 Jeremy Hall and lastly #89 of Carey Smith.

NO SHOWS WERE TROY DIXON, as well as Lamar Haywood.

Anyway Pete Cochran and his super fast #14, BLEW everyone away, including fan favorite Tony Kemp.
To make it all worse for Tony he got caught up with Carey Smith in a wreck, and Smith came out with the most damage, so much that he had to pull off the track.

Congratulations, Pete Cochran, and hope to see you Saturday again.
Coming in 2nd was #19 Jeremy Hall
And in 3rd Tony Kemp

The Sportsman feature was going to be a good one, as #99 Rucker Orr starting on the poll and next to him was #G1 of Glenn McWaters.
In row 2 was none other than #24 Ricky Payton as well as #8 Michael Mills known as “High Flying Michael Mills”, also in the race was #28D of Young Darrell Frick who was driving a new car, well new to him. Once he gets the hang of it will be a real force to deal with. Frick is young and talented and can be a winner if he continues to learn his craft.
Not making the show was #25 of Scott Duffey who has been a real force and getting his car next to making his way up the racing ladder. Maybe he will make the show this weekend, also not showing up was Piedmont Alabama’s own #11 Ryan Law.

The flagman came down and spoke with Orr and McWaters and I wish I knew what that was all about, anyway when the race went green, Orr headed into turn one and coming out of turn two he was leading and waving goodbye to everyone else in the race.

Congratulations, Rucker Orr on another outstanding Win

Coming in 2nd was G1 of Glenn McWaters

And in 3rd was #24 Ricky Payton

Many Thanks,

West Georgia Speedway results 7-25-09

A Champion brightens a young mans heart, just by signing his name to some racing photo's, you know this young man can not believe that Rucker Orr would take the time to sign his autograph for this little man, this is what is needed more in racing now days, after all the fans and children and older adults are the ones that make up racing fans , so why not give back a little, like Rucker Orr did in this photo.

“Crash. Crash. Man what a weekend”

Guess what there I was last night returning home from filming at West Georgia Speedway, things seemed alright. Well until SUNDAY afternoon, when I went into my office and there BLINKING in BOLD Letters was my JVC Burner, reading LOADING, LOADING, and it would not stop. That is what The CRASH was, NOW I have to replace it, and it is expensive. Had to get out a BACK-UP a Toshiba DVD RECORDER Out to help get some videos ready, come on give me a break please.

MODIFIED MINI FEATURE

7 cars would start the race. 2 would finish, kind of crazy don’t you think?

There was “NO” Richard Bagby, who did not have his car ready are he was tired of racing, I need to check the facts and will get back to you on Richard known as the “King” of West Georgia Speedway. Richard's pretty wife was there, and she posed for me, she kept saying she did not look good, my friends, this is one beautiful lady and she is married to Richard Bagby. What do you think?

Also not racing in his signature #07 was long time champion Frank Long, he was there he was not driving, that made no sense.

#20 Ryan Heppner was there in his white modified truck, and he was the one if I was beating on would have won the race, but not tonight, he was having a bad night as well, and his car was not acting like it should, something was wrong.

Also the big disappointment was when Huie Stewart’s car went away and there he was drifting to the back and later he would have to pull into the pit area. There would be no repairs on his car it was shot for the night.

Funny part of that all the Modified Mini drivers did not think Huie showed up for the race, that later I found out because he was hiding his #16 car on top of the hill and not in the pit area, where the rest of the modified mini cars were. He was hiding, and the other drivers were happy not to see his car.

Personally I have not yet had the pleasure of speaking face to face with Huie, but that day will be coming soon.

He has an incredible pit crew, check out these names, Rod Stewart, James Stewart, and they are working on a “Martha” Stewart. What was also kind of neat was the fact that Rod Stewart was wearing an “Office Depot” shirt on. Now you say, so what, well I can tell you what, it is because NASCAR driver Tony Stewart also is the spokesperson for Office Depot.

The race seemed like it was going to be good, even though we were missing Frank Long and Richard Bagby in the show.

So we had several cars start, which made it look like it would turn out to be a real race. WRONG!

I mean if you want to see cars drop out this was your kind of race, take young Ryan Heppner in his #20 car, he seemed to have the race and was looking great, but he slowly sank back into the field and that was all we heard from Ryan.

So I expected Huie Stewart who started in the rear of the pack to make a dramatic come from behind, seemed like everything would be going his way, but you know he also had major car problems and in shock, Huie eased his #16 car into the pit area where his crew came to help him, but there would be no help as something was wrong with his car and his race was over

All we can say is next weekend will we see Huie Stewart back again and will his car be ready to take on the giants of Richard Bagby and Frank Long if they show up.

We had a new winner since only 2 cars finished the race it was not very exciting, but we did have a new winner.

#T3 would go ahead a grab this easy win
#3 would finish 2nd and that was that?
Who were they?
#T3 Todd Brewster
#3 Allen Brewster
#11 Charles Lancaster

Saturday night the races were not that exciting, I mean sure we had some of the best drivers seemed to be there except maybe one, and that was #16 James Taylor, sorry about that.

Ok, we did have Winford Minnix back, he was away last weekend because he had his engine removed and was working on it, and you know you need an engine in a car to race. But the Enduro battle that I thought would happen did not. Winford’s car looked like he still had engine trouble as he lagged in the back and never really was a true force in the race at all.

The Odd part of the Enduro race was that driving the #91 of Lee Owensby who everyone is now calling him “Lee Lee” as a nickname was not driving his car. He turned the wheel over to full-size driver Kevin Horton. Horton has driven in the last race every night at West Georgia Speedway in his full-size car.
He is a true winner in every class he tries to drive in. Of course he was driving Owensby’s car, so a car makes the difference. Then again a driver has to have that special confidence and from what I have seen Kevin Horton can be a winner.

Also racing in this event and back with his wife as team manager was Steven Parker, in his #55. So the heavy hitters were back and ready to race.

Scott Miller in his bright yellow #J77 was back after winning last weekends race, and he was giving it his all, but the car that was the car to beat was #91 Kevin Horton.

The race was almost over there were 2 laps to go and what was impossible happened, Steven Parker had a tire go down, and his night was over, he could have finished 2nd but that was only wishing. While the yellow was out with a caution, I scanned the infield pit area and I could see some people around his car trying to get a tire off and replace it, but it was not to be as the green dropped again and he was left in the pit area with maybe a sinking feeling, but he can look on the bright side of life, these things happen to the best of drivers. Look back at all the NASCAR drivers that have lost a race on the last lap because they thought they had enough go, go juice to make it that last lap. They also had a sinking feeling, I know that Tina and Steven also had that same feeling at the cars restarted and he was left out.

When the race was over, the green #91 took another checkered flag, only this time Lee Owensby was not behind the wheel it was Kevin Horton doing the driving.
The Order of Finish was:
#91 Kevin Horton
#1 Jeff Moran
#86 George Purgason

THE HOBBY CAR FEATURE

What the heck was going on, I know that the track was dusty, and cars could not get a good grip, so I figured that this race would feature #01 Blant Duke who was racing and lined up in the second row, up front on the pole was #3 of Jeff Carter and next to him was #31 of Blake Griffin that left #01 Blant in row two. How do you every count out #57 Lee McElwanyne, he is always in the race, but even his car would be off tonight.

“SURPRISE and I mean SURPRISE” we had a real hobby car champion decide to return to the Burg, non other than #69 of Roscoe Collins. Yes the legend was back, and I looked for him to take a checkered flag home with him, but Roscoe has been busy fishing and boating and all those other things winning drivers do, when they want to get away.

The hobby race was a real show, featuring, Roscoe Collins, and Jeff Carter not to mention Blant Duke, and also Lee McElwanyne.
But the car that really showed its power was that of #31 Blake Griffin, who stole the hobby car show. I mean a late caution would come out and that would let Roscoe Collins close in, but when the green flag dropped, Griffin took off, and Collins was chasing him with all he had, it was also amazing to see rounding turn one and coming out of turn two, Blant Duke try and make a move to pass Roscoe, but Collins with his uncanny driving style seemed to touch Blants car and Duke slowed on the back straight where he would remain.

So the real race became between Blake Griffin and Roscoe Collins, with Blant Duke trailing those drivers.

I knew it was going to get wild in the latter point of the race, and sure enough it would. Drivers such as Carter, McElwanyne, and Duke were left in the flying dust of the Burg, so Blake Griffin would not be beaten on this hot night in Georgia

Finishing Order went like this

#31 Blake Griffin
#69 Roscoe Collins
#01 Blant Duke

(There is a rumor and I will check into this it regards #29 Rusty Johnson, I heard the reason he has not been back racing is that he hurt his back) I hope and pray that we will all get to to see Rusty Johnson drive again at West Georgia Speedway, so GET WELL RUSTY, form Plusphotograpy and all the great race fans at West Georgia Speedway.

THE CRATE FEATURE

From now on, I will call Pete Cochran,
"Gentalman" because that his how he was when he was speaking with me, he was a gunine pure honest gentalman, that has raced everywhere and everybody.

Again we had an outstanding Crate feature, and the driver that most impressed me was #14 of Pete Cochran, a driver that has raced every where and with and against the best.
Also in the race was West Georgia Speedway’s fan favorite #16 Tony Kemp one of the cleanest drivers at any track.
Also in the crate race was #19 of Jeremy Hall and #89 of young Carey Smith.

The feature would put Cochran and Kemp side by side on the pole, with Jeremy Hall and Carey Smith in the second row.

When the green flag dropped Cochran lead all the cars into turn one and out of turn two, and there was not going to be a way that Tony was catching Pete, his car was on rails, and he handled the track better than any driver in a long time.

Toward the end of the race, Kemp got into Carey Smith or visa versa. Whatever happened, Kemps car was damaged but he would stay in the race that same goes with Carey Smith.
So that left Jeremy Hall chasing Pete but there was no way anyone was catching, Pete Cochran.

The end went like this:

#14 Pete Cochran Winning

#19 Jeremy Hall

#16 Tony Kemp

INTERMISSTION, Or BREAK TIME AT THE BURG

Now it was time to head to the concession stand, and load up on some great food, and drinks, before the Sportsman Feature.

SPORTSMAN FEATURE
Racing is a sport, but do you really want to see how much it has a effect on our youngsters, look here as Rucker Orr signs and shakes the hand of a little boy, that has just met his hero, Rucker Orr is doing more for the sport here than he can do on any race track, because this little boy will treasure the memories of shaking and getting signed photos by Rucker Orr. This is what racing is about, its about the fans, the children and the older adults that pay to see these outstanding drivers. Thank You Rucker for being a class act!.

Then it was time for the fastest cars to run their feature show, and it was going to be a good one. There was the long time winning driver #99 Rucker Orr and #G1 of Glenn McWaters plus also in the race was #8 of “High Flying” Michael Mills, also in the running was #13 of Roger Cassell and then there was #28D of Darrell Frick in his new black car, that is a car that will in time be one that will be reckoned with.

As the cars were lining up, it was something to see as the Flagman came down and spoke to Rucker Orr and also to Glenn McWaters before the race what that was all about I have know idea.
Maybe he was warning them; about jumping the starts Maybe he was just making sure he wanted to see a clean race.

What ever he said must have worked because when the green flag dropped Glenn blew out in front, but coming from behind was the famous #99 of Rucker Orr. And on the long backstretch Orr pulled away and that was all she wrote.

Rucker had everything working in his car, and you know it would have taken Glenn McWaters with fresh tires to beat Orr. Sources say that McWaters was running on old tires, now that does not seem right, because a winning driver always tries to have the best on his car when he comes to a race.

I am sure that Rucker was ready because his car broke down last week and that is something Orr does not like. He is a proven winner and a proven Champion.

The Order of finish was :

#99 Rucker Orr

#G1 Glenn McWaters

#24 Ricky Payton

Many Thanks and see you at the races this weekend

Thanks Again,

"CRASH , CRASH, MAN WHAT A WEEKEND"
Guess what, there I was hoping home and seeming like the night at the Speedway was a waste of time, you know one of those dumb nights.
I am not saying I did do my best filming, like I always do when I am filming.
Racing is always fun, watching the drivers,

FRIDAY GET READY TO RUN HARD

West Georgia Speedway Saturday Night

Ok, racing at West Georgia Speedway should show some extra HEAT, on and off the track.

Racing should be exciting at the old “Historic” track, and we should see some extra hot racing action.

Can the Modified Mini race be as exciting as last week, and can Huie Stewart win 3 in a row?

Stewart is the 2009 Modified Mini Champion in this division.
Does he have the power to out motor long time winning drivers like Frank Long who has been a champion for years, but he has been getting beat and that is something Long does not like.

And will Richard Bagby return with a new motor in his mustang and try to win? If you remember last week in the Championship race Richard was there and his car engine let go, and there he was circling the track with white smoke pouring from underneath his #6 mustang.

I have not heard as of yet he will return to the “Burg”, I do know that at one time he was ready to give up racing and that is something that I can not believe because Richard is too good at racing in any car and at any track, Richard has and always will be a proven veteran winner.

But racing is hard, and drivers at West Georgia Speedway take a beating every time they race there. When they win it is special, but and all drivers can relive those times on the track, by purchasing a DVD of the race for a mere $20.

So Hey make sure you ask for Tino, and ask for a DVD, you may just want to watch it, but the great drivers, the ones that win all the time at the Burg, take it as a learning tool and a way to set up their cars for next Saturday night for their feature.

The Enduro race should really see some action as the best of the best return, meaning drivers like Winford Minnix, Lee Owensby and Steven Parker should return that should make it hard for last weeks winner Scott Miller and add some real pressure to new comer Zack Lovvorn in his #57 car.

Racing should be really hard and heavy, and anyone can win this race.

The Hobby race is going to be a real dandy, as Jeff Carter returns to West Georgia Speedway, with his signature #3.
Also racing we really hope will be #29 of Rusty Johnson, and then I am sure the #16 James Taylor will be there and he was not happy last weekend. But again Taylor was involved in some race wrecks, and he was caught spinning and showing his style.

Now we have to remember that Blant Duke will also be racing and you can never count Blant out of a race, proving last week as he started in the rear and raced to the front to win, edging out #57 of Lee McElwanyne, and Jason Causey running in 3rd place.

This weekend, we should see the top hobby car drivers back and that makes a difference.

So be prepared for some real Hobby car racing at West Georgia Speedway.

When the crate cars line up I am sure we will see #32 of Troy Dixon, and winner of last weekend race #14 Pete Cochran, and I really hope #16 Tony Kemp a real fan favorite.

Then we should have a intermission and enjoy some of the great foods from the concession stand at West Georgia Speedway, so be prepared to eat and drink as much as you need or want.

It is then that the fastest cars take the track, and I mean the best of the best.

#99 Rucker Orr in his super fast sportsman car should be ready to rumble this weekend since last weekend he had a $40 piece break prior to the race, it was a universal joint. That small piece took him out of the running last week.

This gave #G1 Glenn McWaters, and his crew the real chance at winning. The missing Rucker Orr in the line up changed the racing order; put Glenn McWaters on the pole with #18C of Shane Criswell up to the front pole position.
The new running order in 2 lined up #11 Ryan Law from Piedmont, Alabama, and next to him was #24 of Ricky Payton.

This weekend, Orr will be back with vengeance, and we know he is ready to run, I am sure maybe Mcwaters should be back, but does any one know what happened to Fletcher Cavendar?

Anyway I suggest you be at West Georgia Speedway this weekend, for some really exciting racing action.

You know what if you can bring a friend or a neighbor and “Turn them on to Dirt Track Racing”.

See the Best of the Best at this “Historic” race track that is going down in history as one of the best tracks in the South.

Many drivers say they can’t race there, you know why it’s because they come maybe one time during a season and say they don’t like track, so they lose and lose badly, let me inform all drivers the way you win at West Georgia Speedway is because you drive there every Saturday night, you have to learn this track, it can make you look like a Champion or can make you look like a chump.

You want to win, continue to race at the “Burg” as many times as possible.

Good luck to everyone this weekend,

Thanks

Just Some Facts

Meet Historic Sammy Duke

Just some notes on a crazy Wednesday afternoon, about a Historic Speedway!

"Welcome" TRUE race fans, to another super night of hard driving racing, from “Historic” West Georgia Speedway where racing becomes a major challenge.

Please remember that this is one of the oldest race tracks in Georgia and has its own flavor. I mean if history is anything in this time, well racing at West Georgia Speedway has had its share of racing hard knocks and licks, and the track has seen some crazy and wild things happen.

I personally have seen, fights break out on the track, fights between crews after a race, and one man hit by a car trying to get off the track. It’s all in a Saturday nights work when I start filming some of the best drivers in the south.

I mean when a driver starts at the “Burg” and begins to prove he can run with the others that means a lot. You see the track is not friendly at all, and takes its toil on drivers plus rocks and rolls their cars so much that pieces fall off, and that ends their night of racing.

Drivers that win continually at the Burg are your real drivers. These are men that are family men, men that work hard all week, and when the weekend arrives, they are ready to race, on any track as long as it’s a round 3/8th track.
When you see drivers pulling into a race track like West Georgia Speedway and you can say when you see the number on the trailers just who the driver is “You have become a real race fan”.

Take hobby car driver Jeff Carter, and his signature #3 hobby car, with the #3 on the side of his trailer, he is a hero in his class. He is a family Man and hard worker, from Stockbridge, Georgia. He brings a crew with him every time he comes to the Burg.
Jeff is the type of driver that you learn too like, he is kind off the track but put him on the track and he becomes another monster.

Same goes for drivers like #29 Rusty Johnson, who won the championship at West Georgia Speedway this season beating out Blant Duke in one of the closest hobby car championship races of all time.

Then there is #92 Joe Hillman a driver that really needs no introduction, as Hillman has been racing for years and when he races you know he is on the track. Hillman has always raced hard, and he races every other driver hard and honest. That is why Joe became known as “Super Joe”, he has driven almost every track and when he races you know you are in a battle. A family man, he works hard and when he does race he races hard as ever.

Driving car #01 is Blant Duke, yes he is the grandson of owner and promoter Sammy Duke, and yes he drives like he owns West Georgia Speedway. Maybe it was because he was probably born and raised at a race track and when he could start driving Blant was racing on this track every Saturday nights, this is where he learned and trained and since his grandfather owned the track I am sure during the week he would go down and run his car and make sure he knew every part of the track, more than any other race driver that comes to the Speedway for the first time. Does he have a edge?, you make the call.

When we talk about Enduro cars, all I know is Winford Minnix driver of the #M4 has been track champion for years and years, and guess what in 2009 he also won the track championship beating out, #91 Lee Owensby a driver that is coming up in this new class he is driving in, I mean Owensby drives the “Hell” out of his green car, and when he wins you know it.

A real new comer Steven Parker is making his presence felt when he shows up in his Enduro car with the #55 boldly on the sides of his car. Steven Parker even has formed a racing team with his wife Tina, and the team is called “Team Twisted” Racing. If he continues to drive like he has been he will be moving up in racing and you can and will always remember you can say you read about his rise in the racing world right here first.
Good luck and keep on driving as good as you have been Steven, and continue to take car of your car.

Same goes for Sportsman driver Glenn McWaters who has his crew bring his #G1 car to the race track, and prepare it for the race. Because Glenn comes later, to the track, in his own vehicle. He is the only driver I know that has a pit crew that readies his car and all he has to do is drive, and that is what Glenn McWaters does best, he drives and wins

One thing for sure when he is at the track we all know we will see some outstanding driving, and a great Sportsman race.

Just the opposite is driver of the #99 sportsman car driven by Rucker Orr. When you see his white truck and trailer come into the speedway, if you look closely he has a black and white “Jolly Roger” flag flying on rear of his truck, does this mean he is one of Georgia’s bad boys on Dirt?.
You can take Rucker Orr anyway you want, but since his father was also a star driver in his own right, and I am speaking about Ken Orr, a driver that has won every major dirt race in the south, so why does it surprise you that Rucker Orr has the same genes and the same attitude. He drives to WIN and second place is not part of his vocabulary. Winning is what Rucker Orr does best and if you think you can beat him, please bring your car down to West Georgia Speedway and enter the Sportsman feature and take on Orr and McWaters, if you win, you will be the best.
First you have to win, and that is the hardest part.

One of the few drivers that really gets no respect is Darrell Frick, driver of Sportsman car #28D, Darrell comes to the track and parks next to the fastest driver on the track, that of course is Rucker Orr and he does all the work himself on his race car, what makes him do this, I mean he never wins, he never places and he continues to show up, and drive in a class of cars that seem to have much more than he will ever have. Darrell is special, he is kind, he is a joy to speak with, but what makes him tick?

Sometimes drivers come and you know they are the best and some drives come and know that they don’t really have a chance.

The main thing I have learned from all the filming at West Georgia Speedway that I have done over the years is I have learned that the more a driver races at the Burg, the more they will learn the track, and when they learn where to go low and where to go high, you know what they will win more and more races at the Burg.

Some drivers come one or two times and think they can win, when in reality if a driver does not continue to come and race at this small track, the drivers will never win.

So all I can say is learn the track and race as many races as you can there and guess what you may be looking up and seeing the checkered flag waving over your car.

Last thing I have to say is that when you are racing at West Georgia Speedway be prepared for your car to take a beating, because rubbing is racing, and if cars are not rubbing they are not racing! So be prepared for some damage.

Thanks

Stewart New Champion at West Georgia Speedway

West Georgia Modified Mini Car Championship WON!

Yes it was" Huie Stewart" of Oxford, Georgia he is now crowned as Champion

This was the Modified Mini Championship that I believed would be a battle between Frank Long and his rival Richard Bagby, I mean these men have known how to win and where to win and also how to win.

But take in Richard Babgy’s case he and his family, had been on a peaceful vacation in Florida, so was his car ready to run?

As for as Frank Long, he was ready because one week before he was beaten by this man named “Stewart” who I never realized he was much of a force.

You know what this was the race that was a Thriller for some and a Killer to others, the thriller was in the driving ability of Huie Stewart, and the Killer went to #6 of Richard Bagby’s car , when smoke billowed from under his car, as his engine had gone south.

It was hard to believe as I followed Richard’s car around the track and he slowly turned into the pit area.. I knew he was not happy, but when I later talked with him he laughed and said that’s “Racing”.

So with Richard gone from the race that left the field wide open and you would think Frank Long would be looking mighty happy. BUT WAIT, who was watching car #16 of this man named “Stewart” and I had know idea what his name was as the race proceeded.

All I did know was that he was leading, Frank Long and that was strange, I looked up when the white flag was flying and there he was leading Frank Long around the track, and as he headed to the checkered flag, he reminded me more of Tony Stewart, NO RELATION, sorry !!!. but later I found out this 42 year old rookie was really smart driver, and has a great car. This is the sport where you need the best car, and all I can say is Huie Stewart had the best on Saturday nigh and that is why he is now the 2009 champion of the Modified Mini cars at West Georgia Speedway and he is the driver to set you sights on, he has become the best of the best.

Congratulations Huie Stewart again from us here at Plusphotography and every real race fan at West Georgia Speedway.
The final results were

#16 Huie Stewart

#07 Frank Long

#20 Ryan Heppner

Then we had the Enduro race, but we were missing some of the best drivers of this race, missing were champion Winford Minnix, Lee Owensby, and Steven Parker, it was a shame because 7 cars showed up, but what was amazing 3 would finish the race.

The cars that did compete had a great race, I mean it was not the same without the top drivers in the race but we got to see drivers that try their best every Saturday night.
#J77 of Scott Miller was on the pole with #17 of Ronnie Wren and also in the race young rookie talent #57 of Zack Lovvorn, who kept racing even when he had a run in with another car.
The race finished like this:

#J77 Scott Miller
# 17 Ronnie Wren
#57 Zack Lovvorn

Now it was time for the Hobby cars to race, and the feature would be short of the class drivers that are usually there. I mean missing from the action were, Rusty Johnson, Jeff Carter, Joe Hillman, Cory Hillman, Mark Knight.
Some of these drivers had chosen to race at another track, Dixie to be exact.
Some like Joe Hillman could not return because of the severe damage to his car that happened one weekend ago when he was involved in a 3 car pile up.

When I looked back at the video it was caused by a car driven by James Taylor #16 who some home got caught between Carter and Hillman, and guess who James Taylor was blaming for the wreck Saturday night, he blamed Jeff Carter and was tired of Jeff running all over his car, he was also ready to give Jeff a little pay back..

Drivers say a lot when talking, like so many they all are at the top of their game and their car is unbeatable, until they are racing at West Georgia Speedway.

When I told James Taylor the wreck look like it was his fault he became enraged, and said he wanted a DVD, and he bought one for $20 dollars and now he can go home and watch the wreck in slow motion or back it up.

When he heard that Jeff was racing at Dixie he was very happy because he at least knew he would not have to get run over by Carter, but he did say he was hoping he would be back because he had a thing or two for Jeff, and from what I took it was not good at all..

Starting on the Pole was believe it are not James Taylor and along side him was last weeks winning car, Jason Causey. Also in the race was Blant Duke who was starting the race in the back of the field. One driver that has always been a winner is Lee McElwayne in his new car, which he is still working out the bugs in it, since he had sold the old sponge bob car he had.
The Hobby race looked like a good one, except for the fact James Taylor was on the pole and Jason Causey was next to Taylor.
When the green flag dropped it was like a old movie as Taylor’s car slowed rounding turn 2 and he was hit by Jason Causey and brushed by Lee McElewaynes car,. That caused Taylor’s car to go into a spin, and ended up against the backstretch. Then it happened he was not out of the race, as a matter of fact they had to restart the race with of all things James Taylor started again and Jason’s Causey car was bent but he was able to make the start again.

Ok the finish was hard to believe but just what I expected, #01 Blant Duke raced his car from the back of the pack to the front passing cars like they were standing still, he even shot around #16 James Taylor who is a wreck waiting to happen.

The finish was :

#01 Blant Duke
#57 Lee McElwayne
#47 Jason Causey

There is a saying in racing “If you can’t run with the BIG DOGS get off the track”

Or maybe you heard this “Put Up or Shut Up”.

Since we had such a long delay in the race, we had no Intermission break, and the Crate cars came out for their feature race, and it looked like a good one, I mean there was fan favorite #16 Tony Kemp and #14 Pete Cochran, and also in the race was #32 Troy Dixon, plus rookie #89 Carey Smith.

Smith would later drop out of the race, and Kemp would be blown away by Pete Cochran, that left Jeremy Hall and Troy Dixon to chase down the leader, but none of the cars had the muscle to get around Cochran.

The finish of the Crate race was:
#14 Pete Cochran
#16 Tony Kemp
#19 Jeremy Hall

Still NO BREAK Just Racing Action, and the Sportsman cars came out on the track, and it looked like this was the race we had all been waiting for.

It featured, #99 Rucker Orr, #G1 Glenn McWaters, #18C Shane Criswell, #11 Ryan Law #25 Scott Duffey plus #24 of Ricky Payton.

So when the cars lined up, Rucker Orr was on the inside pole with Shane Criswell on the outside, and behind these two fast cars were Glenn McWaters and Ryan Law.

When the sportsman started down the back and front straight everything looked good until Rucker Orr pulled off to the side, and stopped his car and existed.
He bent down and there was his problem he had broken a universal joint, and that was the end of his night.

The cars were realigned and in front on the pole was G1 of Glenn McWaters, and next to him was Shane Criswell. Again behind them were #11 of Ryan Law and next to him was #24 of Ricky Payton.

When the race went Green! Glenn McWaters and his #G1 shot out like a bullet and he was the man to beat, and this was his night..

The final results were:

#G1 Glenn McWaters
#18C Shane Criswell
#24 Ricky Payton

All I can say is be at West Georgia Speedway this weekend as the hot enduro drivers will return as well as some great hobby car drivers not to mention the Sportsman drivers.

When you get a chance, please say hello, to promoter and Owner Sammy Duke and his family.

Thanks

CLASSIC , STEWART, CLASSIC YARBOUROUGH, ALLISON FIGHT

Racing, of all types and the fazes that driver Tony Stewart has gone through, and the last video was from ABC TV, showing real drivers frustrated and angry and mad, and disgusted and this is really what made racing a sport to watch, the historic fight between Cale Yarborough, and the Allison brothers.

You can still see the action at your local dirt track, and there is plenty of action at West Georgia Speedway on any Saturday night.

So bring the family and friends and BE THERE for short track racing at it's best !!!!!!.

This has been a VIDEO BLOG.

Thanks.

FRIDAY COMING ON, FOLK !!!

How many race car driver's in the past history of racing have run "Moonshine"?, I mean they drove fast cars and were never afraid of the dark and taking driving at night to a new limit.

Their cars are built for SPEED, their nerves are made of steel, and they were the pioneers of what we now call racing. How many driver's had family members that at one time ran Moonshine?, who knows but maybe some of those that run on a track too hard to tame in Whitesburg, Georgia are the same drivers, that race every Saturday night at West Georgia Speedway, or "The Burg", as it is known.

This weekend, the race will feature some hard charging Modified Mini drivers, and the cash will be there as will the drivers. I am looking forward to welcoming back, #6 "King" Richard Bagby, and #07 Frank Long doing some good down home southern style racing, if you think you have seen a modified mini race and they are a bore, well you have not come down and visited West Georgia Speedway. These Modified Mini Racing men, are always up to the challenge, and they are not lagers they are speed burners. racing for the win is what they do best.

Richard Bagby, has shown he can drive Sportsman cars, to Late Model cars, and now he has choose to come back and race in the real roots of racing, in the Modified Mini cars.
Frank Long has been driving in this class for years, and I guess that is why he is the best, and he never likes 2nd place. So be ready for a Modified Mini battle supreme, if Bagby makes the show.

Ryan Heppner, is always in the mix, as is Chris Upton, a new comer to this sport, and as it is said any race can be won by any driver on any given night, yes you have the top drivers Bagby and Long, but never and I mean never count out another driver, racing is racing, and Saturday night these men will be racing for some serious cash money and a trophy, so plan on being there at "The Burg".

The Enduro race, WILL NOT feature #55 of Steven Parker who is taking a break, so some one else can maybe take 2nd place if not win the race itself. I am sure Winford Minnix will be there, as well as hard driving Lee Owensby in his green #91. Who ever races in this Enduro race will put on a show for the fans at West Georgia Speedway. These drivers give it their all, every time they race. NEWS: Terry "Sunshine" Finnall will be back before the season is over to race in this competitive sport, so be looking for his #32 BRIGHT YELLOW, car, that is why he is known as "Sunshine". because his car lights up the race track.

The Hobby car division race will also be missing, #3 Jeff Carter, who will be away this weekend, so maybe his car can recover from the beating it took Saturday night between car #16 and #92 Joe Hillman.
Also missing will be a driver that everyone knows, and that is Mark Knight who has been driving Jason Causey's #47 car. As a matter of fact Knight would go on and win Saturday night at the tough speedway, in Causey's car. But this weekend, Jason Causey will be behind the wheel, and I am sure he will be nervous.
Drivers who we know should make the show is the ever so fast #01 Blant Duke, and #29 of Rusty Johnson, I do not believe Joe Hillman will make the show and that is a shame because he can put on a show when he is on the track. Lee Mcelwayne should be back, then again who knows.

The crate cars. should feature Troy Dixon driving his #32, a always winning car, and I also look for #14 Pete Cochran to be in the show, maybe even #89 Carey Smith will make the show.
But will #16 Tony Kemp be racing, we have been missing their absence from the track, as well as #19 Jeremy Hall, we need these guys back, and I hope they make the show.

The Sportsman feature should see 2009 West Georgia Champion driver Rucker Orr back in his bright yellow #99 after all he has been a winner in his last two races, and he never looked back last week. he just drove "The Hell" out of his race car.
I don't believe #G1 Glenn McWaters will make the show, he is married now and maybe that takes away from his racing career.
Also I don't look for #26 Fletcher Cavendar, who finished 2nd last Saturday night, and even tore down Orr's car, but Orr was legal, so there was nothing he could do.
#25 young talented Scott Duffey should make the show and Scott is getting better every time he is on the track, he is showing and growing.
Will #13 Roger Cassell make the show, who knows, and what about #73 of Jason Williams, will he be there?.
I hope to see #11 Ryan Law a Alabama native that likes racing at the Burg, I hope he will make the show, he is always someone you can root for as well as watch on the track.

Anyway hope you all can be there at West Georgia Speedway THIS SATURDAY NIGHT for the all important Modified Mini Championship race. Remember the CASH is waiting as well as the trophy. SO BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Many Thanks,
