ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP RACE

“ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT AWAITS YOU”

Let’s get to the point, we have an Enduro Championship race this weekend at West Georgia Speedway, and the winner can and will walk away with some nice cash.

Top drivers in this field will include #12 Gary Brand, #M4 Winford Minnix, #02 Blake Duke, or maybe even long time unseen driver #55 Steven Parker.
NEWS FLASH: STEVEN PARKER WILL NOT BE RACING BECAUSE HE WILL BE WORKING
One thing for sure last weekend “The Burg” saw 13 Enduro cars racing on this historic old track, and there was 1 winner and he was #12 Gary Brand, he was followed by #M4 of Winford Minnix and #02 driven by Blant Duke who was sitting in for Blake Duke.

No matter what the race was exciting and fans got their money’s worth in that feature.

So be ready as the Championship race is own again, as this will be Part 2 and the winner will be crowed the Enduro Champion Driver for the year of 2009 at West Georgia Speedway.

Then we shall see the race of all races, as the Hobby cars take the track. If we see the same super fast hobby car we did last week and see #3 Big Jeff Carter, show he now has the car to beat we are in for a real treat. Not even #22 of William Blair could catch Carter, this is the car that we look to have win the Hobby Championship coming later this weekend and I know it will be a test for #01 Blant Duke who rules West Georgia Speedway but to be honest, if everything goes the way Carters car ran Saturday night, all Blant will be seeing is the rear end of #3 Jeff Carters car all night. But do not ever count. Blant Duke out of a race, because when you do, he makes a fool of you.

So see you at the races, and bring a friend or two and introduce them to the wonderful world of Dirt Car racing.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

Thanks

Friday Night Frights and Winners

Meet Top Side Score Keeper "Trey"

Meet Mr.Sammy Duke, the Legend

FRIDAY NIGHT, FRIGHTS, AND WINNERS”

A Phrase from Rucker Orr “He was so happy he had to sit on his hands”

First off I want to personally say that “I am so sorry for all the Pure Mini drivers” that I said I was going to stay and film their races, I had planned on it, but I got a call on my cell line regarding my wife, and that she was sick, so without a thought, I left after the Sportsman car feature, I know I had said I was about to stay for you Pure Mini race and I always keep my word, but when you get worried when you have a sick family member, all you want to do is make sure they are fine. So Pure Mini drivers forgive me and I will work with you next time.

THE MODIFIED MINI CHAMPIONSHIP PART 2

The Modified Mini Championship had all the cars we expected, like #16 Huie Stewart, #07 Frank Long, #6 Richard Bagby, and #T3 Allan Brewster.

The race looked like it was going to be a really a really hard race, and the top drivers were there at “The Burg”, I tell you, it was great seeing long time legend driver Richard Bagby at the track again after a long absence. His driving seemed a little rusty, and you could tell he was racing hard because even though he slid up against the wall and looked like he was finished he straightened his car up and kept on ticking, he was going on when others were dropping out of the race.

Guess what? I got the chance to meet Huie Stewart, and he is a kick in the butt. There is no way you can not like him.
His pit crew keeps his car winning, and he drives like “Tony Stewart”.
He parks on top of the hill so that other modified mini car drivers can not see that he has arrived. He is playing tricks or is he?

One thing for sure is when #07 Frank Long is racing you know we will see some battles, and I was looking forward to a Long Bagby duel, but that was not happening as Huie Stewart was racing like he never raced before, leading all the way.

Stewart is an outstanding driver, and has lots of great crew people that come along to help him.

You know Richard was racing so hard and you know he made it up to third place, in a race that would see many cars drop out of the race. One thing was for sure, Bagby, gives it all no matter what or where he races.

So the finish went the way Huie Stewart liked, he would go on to win, with long time champion Frank Long came in second, and coming in third place was Richard Bagby. I have also learned that maybe next season, Richard will be going back to his number on his car he had for years and that was #19, a number that when you think of Richard Bagby that was his all time winner number.

Every driver came to win, and that was all there was too it, but there could be only one winner and he was #16 Huie Stewart who drove a flat out winning race, he never looked back.
I know Richard Bagby and Frank Long were also racing plus Allan Brewster was also just trying to catch up to these super fine drivers.

Needles to say the Championship Win went to one of the hottest Modified Mini driver in a long time, and long awaited 30 lap main Modified feature. We all wish Huie Stewart, congratulations Huie, and all his amazing pit crew workers.

So the official finish went this way:

Winning the Championship Huie Stewart.

Coming in 2nd was Frank Long

And in third place was Richard Bagby

NEXT WEEKEND ENDURO’S BE READY FOR YOUR CHAMPIONSHIP PART TWO.

This weekend 13 cars showed up to be in the feature, at the end #12 Gary Brand would take the checkered flag, just out racing #02 of Blant Duke, who was driving instead of Blake Duke, and then #M4 “Charge Card” Winford Minnix slipped by Blant Duke and got himself a second place finish. Racing is hard at the “Burg” and nothing is easy. No driver will give you an easy win, you have to work for every inch of the track and hope you have enough room to spare.

I spoke with Gary prior to the race trying to get to know him, but I found he was hard to speak with. We did joke about the condition of his car, and he said “Just look for the ugliest car and that is mine”. Which is true his passenger side has been caved in do to being tee-boned early in the racing season, and he just never wanted to repair the damage.

One thing for sure is Gary knows how to race and when to make a move, he took some heavy bumping from #02 which we now know was driver Blant Duke, and one thing is for sure if Blant can move you he will.

The young Duke is a mainstay in the Hobby feature and wins when he is on the track. He is born with dirt in his blood.

The Hobby championship will be coming up and that will be the show down between last night hobby winner #3 Jeff Carter who with his new car, can out run anyone, but can he out run Blant Duke?

Put it this way someone has to give, and I am sure Carter will not, and I know Blant Duke will not budge, so someone in the Hobby championship is going down and down slow.

Just thinking about the Hobby Championship gets me ready for the car to line up and take that long awaited green flag.
All I can say is if you are any kind of racing fan this is the race you will need to see and be there, because the gloves are on and the racing will be intense.

Getting back to the Enduro race, we had a winner and that was #12 Gary Brand

In second place was #M4 of Winford Minnix

And in 3rd place finished #02 of Blant Duke – they gave the win to BLAKE DUKE on the westgaspeedway.biz website but Blant was driving.

NOW THE LONG AWAITED HOBBY FEATURE

Then it time for the hobby race, minus #01 of Blant Duke and #57 of Lee McElwanyne plus Mark Knight.

The race did feature in his new hobby car, “Big” Jeff Carter in his still unlettered yellow and red super fast car.
Plus there was next to him #03 of Buck Williams, who son is Sportsman driver #73 Jason Williams, then we had a car #14 of David Chopman. Also in this race were long time veteran #47 Jason Causey, and #22 of William Blair.
The only car that would matter in this race was Carters #3 as he took the track in a storm. As a matter of fact the car was so fast it almost got away from him as he made his way around turn 2. He hung on like a veteran because William Blair was about to pass Jeff but Carter hit the pedal and left Blair in the dust. Later in the race William Blair’s car lost some parts that shot up and into Jason Causeys car, and caused Causey’s car to flame up, as soon as I seen the flames under his hood I panned in on him close as he made his way around turn 4 down the straight and eased it over heading into turn one where he stopped and fire crews were on the scene putting out the blaze. Jason looked so calm, I mean hey Dude your car was on fire, so come on?

The race would last 25 laps and at the end would come out a victorious #3 Jeff Carter who in earlier years I nicknamed “The Magic Man” and you know his night of magic came true.

Winning the Hobby race was #3 Jeff Carter

In second place car #14 David Chopman

And in third place finished #47 Jason Causey

That set up the CRATE Feature or (Crateless feature)

But instead of having a really fast feature, would you believe we had to watch 2 cars, that’s what I said 2 cars race 10 laps and those 2 cars were father and Son team, #14 Pete Cochran, unbeatable and his 18 year old son #27 Petey Cochran.

All I can ask is where were Tony Kemp, or Jeremy Hall, how about #89 Carey Smith? Where were they?
.This was a cake walk for Pete Cochran, and I am sure that he loved the idea of his son racing on same track, with no one else, I mean guess what Pete came in first again as a winner and his son got the taste of cruising and getting paid for 2nd place. They would take the cash home tonight, so the Crate car winners tonight were the unstoppable, “COCHRANS”.

Unbelievable!

If you have a Crate car, and can beat Pete come on down to West Georgia Speedway and give him a try, so far he is the man that owns the crate class.

Then it was Sportsman Time

These are the men you pay to see and watch race, the cars with the most power, and the drivers that have the talent and raw nerves it takes to dive in and out of corners here at West Georgia Speedway.

Drivers like #99 Rucker Orr, a talent that comes down from his father who was a legend in his own right. I am speaking about Ken Orr Sr. that driving force behind his son.

Then there is the quiet small man, who lets his driving prove he is the best. I am talking about #G1 Glenn McWaters whose red sportsman car is a warning sign when he is on the track. Glenn does not like 2nd place and he will race you hard and clean, but when the race is over G1 is the one taking the checkered flag.

Then you have the young guns as I call them the drivers with pure talent and maybe not enough experience, like #11 of Ryan Law from Piedmont, Alabama. Then we have #73 of Jason Williams a force that is going to have to be tamed, as he is the driver that I look toward as being the next man to
Take the next step up the long Sportsman ladder of success.

When Orr and McWaters are at the track, everyone takes a backseat, but like I said we have some drivers like Williams and Law that are charging toward the front.

We all know that on given nights Orr or McWaters will not make the show, so that only opens the door for drivers that have never won at the Burg before. One driver that you have to feel for is young #28D Darrell Frick, he comes to the race giving it his all, and you know his car lets him down, why?

Then you have drivers that have ice in their veins like Rucker Orr, a no non sense driver, that driver that makes his car work every inch of the track and never backs down.

He and Glenn McWaters are so alike, and then they are so different when they are not on the track. Glenn can make anyone laugh and Rucker is a man I respect. Like he said once when his car broke down, “It’s just racing”.

Drivers who line up in this feature are the best and the fans should make sure they give them the credit they disserve.

When you race at the “Burg” you race against a track with so much history and those that win there are considered the best, no matter what class or feature, if you can win at West Georgia Speedway “You’re the Best”.

The Sportsman feature was filled with lots of left turns, but every time out Rucker Orr would have the lead, with Glenn chasing him down, and behind him was hard charging #73 of Jason Williams, I knew Williams had what it would take to beat Orr and McWaters but I never know when that will happen. One thing for sure is Williams has his car set right and all I can say is, that it is a matter of time before you see Jason Williams out running Orr and McWaters.

Racing went on, until McWaters tried to pass Rucker coming out of turn two, when Orr closed the door and Glenn Spun out, thinking he would stay in the race I followed with my camera his car make the slow trip around the track, only to see him pull into the pits where his crew looked at the problem and told him to load up he was done for the night.

All this with just a few laps to run, and Williams just did not have the motor to catch Rucker, but who knows what will happen next weekend, so be there and be a part of history.
And remember support your favorite driver no matter who he might be.

The Sportsman feature finish went like this

Winning #99 Rucker Orr

In second place #73 Jason Williams

And in third place #11 Ryan Law

APOLOGY

I personally want to apologize to the Pure Mini drivers who I promised I would stay and film, drivers like #16 Steven Hill driving Tim Colliers winning car, plus my friend, #21 Randy Brady Sr. who came in third and I know I should have stayed but when you have know idea how your wife is doing, because she was not answering the phone, all kinds of things run through your mind, and the last thing is filming a race.

So to all you pure mini drivers I am sorry, and I am sure that being the men you are will accept this heartfelt apology.

I will make it up to you this weekend or next, or when ever you say.

Many Thanks

Humpday Modified Mini Championship pt.2

“MODIFIED MINI CHAMPIONSHIP RACE PART 2”

Racing should be really nice Saturday Night at West Georgia Speedway as cars come from all over to race for some big cash money and a trophy.

Cash should be flowing fast and furious, as Sammy Duke pays out some hard earned cash, to the driver that has the best Modified Mini car.

All I can say is the race should feature some great drivers, like the champion, #07 Frank Long and maybe #16 Huie Stewart will be racing, because for some reason he failed to make the show, last weekend. Also we hope will be back would be all time driving dirt Champion #06 Richard Bagby.

Bagby has not made the show, due to his engine blowing the night of the first Modified Mini Championship race, since then we have not seen Richard back, at West Georgia Speedway. We may get to see him this weekend if he has his engine back and ready to rumble.

One thing for sure if Richard is there, we know the fans will see a top notch championship style racing, with Frank Long. Do not worry because the action will be intense if the Brewster’s are there also. One driver I hope returns is long time pure mini champion Dan Bennett in his famous blue #32, when Dan is racing there is always a hard fought race, he never gives up.

Get the Modified Mini Championship out of the way, and then we should see some exciting action when the Enduro cars pull onto the track, featuring such class drivers as Winford Minnix, Steven Parker, and Lee Owensby, of course the race features some other exciting drivers.

Last weekend, we had a wild crash on the front strait that took out Steven Parker, and George Purgasion as well as other drivers. Racing to a win was #12 Gary Brand in his well worn out race car, finishing in second was the man from “Glad” #M4 Winford Minnix, and coming in third was Arlie Garret.

The wreck looked like it was caused when Parker lost control of his #55 car and could not correct it in time, thus he collected #86 of George Purguson, and one other car. Needless to say, Parker was through for the night, as he had cut a tire. Steven is still waiting for his first win at the “Burg”. I am sure he will get it, but it will take time and patience.

The Hobby feature should be a good race, even though we will not see #3 Jeff Carter, as he is still having trouble with getting the proper gears in his new animal of a race car. We also hope Lisa Carter returns to track, if you have not heard they have moved and now are in a new home, and it is the best.
Hurry back Jeff and bring your family we will all Miss you “Big Guy”.

Do not worry because if William Blair brings back the same car he had Saturday night, he should lead all the way, be was out driving Blant Duke and that is something that does not happen often because Duke knows how to race and how to win. Saturday’s hobby feature was one of the most exciting races of the night. It proved Duke could be beaten, but to do it Blant did some heavy duty beating on the #22 of William Blair, and in turn it took a toll on Blants car, with pieces flying everywhere. The race also featured long time missed driver Todd Scarborough who is well known for last season driving the #95 “Lighting McQueen” look a like car. He was a real fan favorite more so to all the children who could relate to Lighting McQueen, put it this way it was great to see Todd back at West Georgia Speedway. Will he return again this weekend for more hobby car racing, who knows, he may be there and then again Todd may not show. If Blair returns will Blant have the motor to chase him down, and will other drivers make the show, like long time missed #69 of Roscoe Collins, who we have heard maybe getting out of racing altogether, and if that happens that would be a shame because Roscoe has always been one of the top dirt track drivers in Georgia. He has won so many races, and made so many races exciting I can not see Roscoe sell out. All I can say is please say it is not true, we need drivers like Roscoe Collins.

WELL IT’S TIME FOR EVERYONE TO GRAB THEIR FIRE HOSES BECAUSE ON FRIDAY, “BIG JEFF CARTER” WILL HAVE A BIRTHDAY, AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT HE IS GETTING BETTER WITH AGE, I AM SURE HIS WIFE LISA CARTER WILL AGREE, SO FROM PLUS PHOTOGRAPHY AND ALL THOSE UNSPOKEN RACE FANS, WE WANT TO WISH JEFF A VERY “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” AND WE HOPE WE GET A CHANCE TO SEE JEFF AND HIS SIGNATURE #3 BACK ON THE TRACK AT WEST GEORGIA SPEEDWAY, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

When the Crate cars come out to race, I am sure we will see Pete Cochran #14 and I know he will be up to any challenge that any driver can bring, and I am sure that Tony Kemp will be ready as well as young gun Carey Smith, who showed some real improvement last week. He was racing hard all through the race until Carey was passed by #16 Tony Kemp, leading to a pile up. Still the action was unclear, as #13 Roger Cassell who came in 2nd place as he was racing in the crate feature.

Again Cochran would WIN and again I say he is unbeatable, but I am sure Kemp and Smith as well as Troy Dixon and Jeremy Hall will bring their cars and try and let me say again TRY and beat Pete who is like I have said on a rocket ship with rails.

The Sportsman feature should be back to normal, as Rucker Orr and Glenn McWaters bring their cars back to the Speedway and try and win another race. I have one thing to say and I am hoping that Jason Williams in his #73 car returns because he was the driver that smoked Orr and McWaters on July 4th before being disqualified. Now he is ready to run, with the best and I look forward to watching him try and climb the ladder. Who knows if last weekends Winner Ryan Law in his #11 car will return, to try and win again in another Sportsman feature race? If he is there he has the car that can win, and I am sure he will give it his all. I have know idea if #18c Shane Criswell will make the show, he was at West Georgia Speedway last Saturday night and came in third in a race that did not have Orr or McWaters racing. Let’s see what Ryan can do when Orr and McWaters are back on the dirt track at the “Burg”.

REMEMBER I WILL BE FILMING PURE MINI RACES IF I GET THE CASH UP FRONT, NO NEED IN WASTING TIME IF THE PURE MINI DRIVERS WILL NOT PURCHASE A DVD.

LET ME KNOW WHEN I AM WALKING A SHOOTING PHOTOS FOR MY BLOGS PRIOR TO RACING ACTION.

Thanks to all,

Tino Patti

TIME TO HELP PLEASE

“DVD’S OF PAST RACES ON SALE SPECIAL PRICE $10.00 per DVD”

Hey race fans, and drivers, I have lots of races from earlier this year, and I have a blow out sale because of illness in my family. I am willing to part with DVD’s from dates of 3/21/09 to 8/1/09 and they are specially priced $10 per DVD.

This money will be used to help pay for my wife’s doctor and her illness. If you do not know she has been sick and I am trying to get by and make sure she is well. Please contact me or see me at the track, I will be carrying extra DVD’s of past races, plus if you want a special race I always can make a copy of the race you want in question.

I never ask much from any driver or their families, but now I am asking if you can help me buy purchasing a DVD from an old race. You and your families have been a blessing to me, while I was filming at West Georgia Speedway, and I can’t see a reason why you can not help me, I have always been their for you and your driving skills.

So forgive me if I made you mad, or angry by this request, but if it was not needed I would not be writing this.

Doctors and illness are something that I have been having trouble with, and my wife has been sick, and all I can do is try and take care of her. But when the funds run low, that just means I have to scape the bottom of the barrel here at home, so I am asking if you could purchase a DVD from past races, remember when the weather is COLD outside and winter has set in, you can always place a DVD in your player and watch some exciting racing action from West Georgia Speedway or “The Burg”.

I have already made up my mind that if those Pure Mini drivers purchase a DVD of their race every week I will plan on staying, price for new action still $20 per race. Prices for me staying will have to be paid up front, because I have run into drivers that say they will purchase a DVD and then they forget, well there will be no forgetting this time, if I am willing to stay, you Pure Mini drivers can pay up front.

Older DVD’s will cost only $10 per DVD, and if we can work out a deal, like I did with Jason Williams who was so kind Saturday night, where he purchased 1 DVD for $20, I through in a extra DVD of a older race for $10.00, he was a true American racing blessing.

Thanks so much for your time and understanding, and I will be looking at hearing from some of you special drivers as well as fans.

Many Thanks again,

Tino Patti

Full Size Championship 2009 Part 2

Mr.Sammy Duke and his faithful tractor

Welcome ALL race fans

“Thunder at the Burg”

Tonight was a night with out some big guns in the Sportsman feature, like #99 Rucker Orr or #G1 of Glenn McWaters, but you know that really made for some great Sportsman racing, as it gave us a chance to see who else could win. We know how powerful Orr is and how smooth McWaters is, but what about some of these untested drivers. The night was set and we had drivers like #18C of Shane Criswell, #11 of Ryan Law, #73 of Jason Williams with a few more cars and we were going racing.

Some of you may not remember Jason Williams and his blazing #73 that blew Orr and McWaters away in a Saturday Night feature on July 4th, 2009, he was disqualified, but that only made Jason a better racer and he has taken his car to a new level of racing. It was sad that Orr or McWaters could not have been racing because I was hoping to see what Williams had for them, I am sure they would have really had their hands full.

Maybe next Saturday Night West Georgia Speedway should have some real Sportsman action if Orr and McWaters return and of course we see Jason Williams in his signature #73 on the track. I am sure we will see racing at its best.

Saturday Nights Sportsman feature was won by #11 Ryan Law, and if you remember back, we had a night at the Burg where the fog rolled onto the race track, and drivers could not see, all except the car that was leading and that was young and talented Ryan Law from Piedmont Alabama. On that Foggy night, believe it or not Orr or McWaters were not racing, so what is the deal, does Law only win when the big guns are not running?

What ever the case is, Law put on a show for the fans, which were hungry to see a real show. I mean there is so much of fan seeing G1 Glenn McWaters win every Saturday night.

I guess that goes the same in regards to #99 Rucker Orr, who is a proven winner on any given night. Missing the Sportsman race were #25 Scott Duffey who has had a really hot car, and looks like his time is coming closer. His good friend “High flying” Michael Mills in his blue #8 Sportsman car, and he drove his wheels off, but that would still not get him a win. Mills has been winless at West Georgia Speedway. All you can say is his time will arrive and he will be one happy man.

Young Darrel Frick had motor problems and did not make the race, his car broke and before the races started I watched from high in the tower as he loaded his car back into the tailor and pulled out, and I am sure this young man was crushed. Frick drives the 28D Sportsman car, and he has proven that he can win.

Modified Mini Feature

All in all, racing at the “Burg” was exciting in every class, from those Modified Mini cars, who had a new driver in this class and that was long time winner in the pure mini features, was Dan Bennett driving his #32 car.
The race was won by long time champion, #07 Frank Long followed by Dan Bennett and coming in 3rd was #8 C.J.Wayward.

Enduro Feature

The Enduro feature was one that had its fill of wrecks, including a pile up on the front straight that collected #55 Steven Parker, also involved were drivers #86 George Purgasion, this wreck would take out Parker and he would no longer be able to compete.
Charging to the front was, #12 Gary Brand, with his car that is so beat up it is hard to see his number on the driver’s side door. Chasing him hard was #M4 of Winford Minnix who is a legend in the Enduro class.
Coming in 3rd place was #46 Arlie Garrett who drove a hard race, and was rewarded with a 3rd place finish at the end of his feature.

Lets get the results:

Winning #12 Gary Brand

2nd place #M4 Winford Minnix

3rd place #46 Arlie Garrett

Hobby Car Feature

When the Hobby car feature was ready, I knew we would be seeing some intense racing, but I never dreamed what a race it would turn out to be.
If you like action, this was your race, close action and full of beating and banging. Not making the show again was Jeff Carter in his new car, seems like he has more work to do, and you know this can really be maddening for the Big Man.
This was the show, William Blair drove his #22 to a hard fought win and it was a close race. Blair and Blant Duke traded parts from their cars, beating and banging away. I know one thing, Blant drove his heart out, but Blair was too much and had just a little more engine than Duke.
Making the show was long missed friend, #95 Todd Scarbourgh, driving his famous “Lighting McQueen” Car. It was great seeing Todd back at the old track racing his tires off.
Blair and Duke put on a battle, that would end up leaving Blants car a mess, it was so bad he had to pull off the track, and if you have Blant pulling off the track you know you have been in a race. I believe it was all the beating and banging Blant was doing trying to get around William Blair, he was focused and someone had to move, but Blair was not prepared to. Later in the race, Blair did Blant some running room, but that was too late, and Duke would be forced into the pits. So William Blair would take a long time coming win, and also showing that Blant can be beat.
While all this was going on, Todd Scarbourgh, was riding around back in 3rd place watching Blair and Duke Bang on each other, he was probably hoping that Blair and Duke would take themselves out and he would grab a easy win, but that was wishful thinking.

When the dust had settled, it was William Blair taking a hard fought win, coming in 2nd was long time veteran driver, Todd Scarborough, and even though he was not on the track Blant Duke took 3rd place, something very rare for this young racer.
Lets go to the result board:

Winning #22 William Blair

2nd #95 Todd Scarbourgh

3rd #01 Blant Duke

Crate Car Feature

Ok lets get those fast Crate cars on the track, and sure enough out came #14 Pete Cochran, with his signature orange and blue rocket, again he would be the driver to chase, but in this race was drivers that could beat him, like #16 Tony Kemp, #19 Jeremy Hall, #89 Carey Smith, and running in crate #13 long time Sportsman driver, Roger Cassell. Cassell, dropped down to the Crate class thinking he could out drive and out motor Cochran, sorry Roger that will not work. But all in all Roger drove a super race and would go on to finish behind #14 Pete Cochran. #16 Tony Kemp a real fan favorite came in 3rd place, but there were some real battles on the track, and a driver that really showed he was starting to make a statement was young and talented #89
Carey Smith who was driving better than I have ever seen him race, he was moving toward the front but he would later spin something Carey is good at doing more so at West Georgia Speedway. One thing for sure is Carey can drive, and you know his car has the muscle but he needs to use it at the right time. One driver that got the hook and had to be pulled from the track by Sammy Duke was #24 of Ricky Payton. Payton is still looking for a win at West Georgia Speedway.

Lets get the results:

Winning and still unbeaten #14 Pete Cochran

2nd place #13 Roger Cassell

3rd place #16 Tony Kemp

Sportsman Feature

Then the fans had their chance to see the Sportsman cars race, this night without Rucker Orr, or Glenn McWaters, so you knew we were about to see some hard fought racing. In the lineup was #11 Ryan Law from Piedmont Alabama and next to him was #18C of Shane Criswell. Sounds great right, well lets add in #8 of “High Flying” Michael Mill, who would make the show after a long time absence, then we had the man that I believe could still the show and will give Orr or McWaters a hard time, he is young #73 of Jason Williams, a driver with plenty of raw talent.
The race went 25 laps and it was pure excitement, but no one could catch Ryan Law who was putting on a driver’s clinic. “Hey I thought to myself. It is not a fog bowl” and he is winning, so Law proved he was ready to compete against the best.
Jason Williams, in his car #73 was on the move, and when Orr and McWaters come back to the Burg we should see some real racing action. Also in the race and would always give it his all was #18C Shane Criswell, he is a dynamite driver, but this would not be Shane’s night

Lets get to the results:

Winning #11 Ryan Law
He ruled the Track on this night

2nd place #73 Jason Williams

3rd place #18C Shane Criswell

Full Size Championship race 2009 part 2

After the Sportsman race was over, everyone was ready for the 2nd 2009 Full size Championship race which featured cars we never hear from except one and that is of course winning driver #16 Kevin Horton in his famous “Black Beauty”. Now you have to remember this was a 30 lap race and long it was, but finishing 2nd would be #99 Mike Ray and in 3rd place would be #55 Randy Johnson. Think about it, Randy Johnson the hobby car champion who has been out of racing for awhile had his son, behind the wheel, so you can say the Johnson’s come from a true racing family.

The results of the 30 lap feature

Winning #16 Kevin Horton

2nd #99 Mike Ray

3rd place #55 Randy Johnson Jr.

I hope to see veteran drivers like Rucker Orr and Glenn McWaters back again Saturday night at the Burg, and I sure hope Jason Williams is there because we should see some real racing action, even Ryan Law could make a statement if his car is ready to race the “Big Guns”.

In the Crate race I look forward to watching young Carey Smith, take his car to a new place, I mean, Smith showed signs of winning, and we need to let every one watch him, He is a youngster on the move, and this young man is showing some great talent. Now will he beat #14 Pete Cochran, come on lets get real, can he? Will he? Could he? I really see no one driver come in and beat Cochran, who is on his game, one driver that I really hope returns to his crate racing form is #16 Tony Kemp.

Ok next week is another Championship, who and what class I will let you by Hump Day?

Thanks
