Racing Returns to the BURG

“Let’s GO Racing BOYS! “

Well the floods are over, and now it’s time to get those engines back to where they belong, right home again at West Georgia Speedway.

Sammy Duke, is hoping that the drivers will come out and support racing again at “The Burg”, and you know I want to say that Sammy does so much for the Speedway in keeping it open and trying to listen to all the drivers who groan and grip. Sammy is the kind of promoter that runs the track with his heart, but it takes money and drivers, plus fans, and you know sometimes it is hard to put fans in the stands, when you don’t have quality racing.

I am making my appeal, if you want to see more racing at West Georgia Speedway, then please help Sammy and his staff keep the racing season alive and well.

I know it’s getting cold, but there will always be hot coco and hot coffee, and good warm food to help you get through the October nights. So come drivers, let’s go racing at the Burg and let Sammy know you care. BE THERE! Support the speedway that gives so much for the racing world.

Historic West Georgia Speedway is the place to be and this Saturday night October 3, 2009 it is a no rule race, bring what you want, and drive what you like, want to cheat, this is your night and guess what NO ONE will say anything about it, this is the drivers dream night.

Come on Support West Georgia Speedway and when you see Sammy let him know you will continue to race as long as he is willing to keep the lights on, remember racing is a man’s sport, and when there is no racing that means its too cold. Really its never to cold to race when you are winning!
News regarding the State Race in Alabama, most of
the drivers who race at West Georgia, had little or no luck at all. Even Rucker Orr who is a real shoe in as a winner in the Sportsman feature was off, he was being lapped by cars, so he pulled of f the track in disgust.
Glenn McWaters of G1 fame started the race 15th and finished 8th in the race, his car was off, but McWaters drove the wheels off. McWaters is a driver that is known for his superb talent and driving style.
Really this race should have some strange winners, because all holds are taken away as every driver can drive a car with a late model engine in it, no reals, no protest, no tech-man, you win you take home the cash, that's the way the race will be run, hard and down and dirty.
So drivers hook your car up with whatever because all rules are dropped for this special race.
I know I am looking forward to filming the races I just hope the tower is still in one peice after all the heavy flooding.

See you at the track Saturday Night.

Thanks

RACING AGAIN ON OCT.3, 2009

"WEST GEORGIA SPEEDWAY BACK TO RACING THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, HOPE YOU CAN BE THERE"

Ok, we have had flooding, and rains that Georgia has never seen before, we have had what they call the 100 year flood, and I mean flood. I have seen damage all over Georgia, and I have had a basement filled with water. I have driven down the roads and seen house with major roof damage and water that still has some roads closed.

I was there when Vice President Joe Bidden , hopped on a helicopter to tour the damage here in Georgia and he went back to Washington and told President Obama, “Yes Georgia got some rain and floods”, Obama said ok, just wanting to make sure, it really happened. So the Vice President declared Douglas, Paulding and Carol and other counties a disaster area, he also allotted Georgia to receive 5 millions dollars in disaster aid.

One thing for sure is I don’t want to see rain again for a long time, not only am I still cleaning up, I still hoping to get back to see my friends race at West Georgia Speedway again

On October 3, 2009 West Georgia Speedway will again have racing, and it is billed as bring what you have, and who cares what is under the hood, there will be no tech man, so you can cheat all you want, and get by in this race which could be the last race of the year of 2009.

I still say Georgia still has some racing days left, but we will leave all of that to Sammy Duke and his family.

Also if you really want to know something to amaze you, well here it is. West Georgia Speedway got its health report on the food at the track and they received 100 for the food and drinks. Now you all know that 100% is the best, so next time you are at the track don’t be worried about the food because it is the best food at any race track. We all need to thank Lorie and her working staff as well as Brian Duke and Sammy.

Ok now you know I am back, so the blogs will continue and will also continue when racing season is over, except then I will be writing about past races and drivers and all kinds of things to keep you interested and hope get you ready for the 2010 racing season.

Remember if you plan on racing, there will be NO RULES no Checking engines, so bring what you think is the best and race to win, there will be no protest, because it’s a all out racing war.

See you at the track,
Thanks

NEED A BOAT? RACING LOOKING LIKE A NO GO

WHAT CAN YOU SAY, EXCEPT THE WEATHER LOOKS LIKE IT IS NO GO FOR RACING

WEST GEORGIA SPEEDWAY IS LOOKING MORE LIKE A LAKE THAN A 3/8 MILE RACE TRACK, MAYBE SAMMY COULD ADD SOME FISH AND HOLD A FISHING TOURNAMENT AND EVER DRIVER HAVE A POLE, AND SEE WHO CATCHES THE BIGGEST FISH.

RACING AND RAIN DON'T MIX, MAYBE WE CAN ADD SMALL OUT BOARD ENGINES TO THE CARS AND TAKE OFF THE TIRES, AND RACE AROUND THE TRACK IN SMALL BOATS.

NOW WE ARE TALKING SOME GREAT TIMES, I MEAN WHO IS THE BEST DRIVER IN A BOAT THAT IS DEEP IN WATER.

SAMMY AND BRIAN DUKE WOULD HAVE TO GET A SMALL TUG BOAT, FOR MOVING CARS OFF THE MUDDY AND HUGE LAKE OF WATER OF A TRACK.

LIKE CAN GET CRAZY AND I GUESS THIS IS THE TIME TO GO CRAZY!

OH WELL HOW MANY OF YOU DRIVERS NEED A WEEKEND OFF, SOME OF YOU ARE GETTING READY FOR THE STATE , BUT DON'T WORRY WEST GEORGIA SPEEDWAY HAS NOT CLOSED DOWN YET, PLENTY OF MORE SATURDAYS OF GOOD DOWN HOME SOUTHERN STYLE RACING.

SO AS I WATCH THE RAIN FALL OUTSIDE MY DOOR, HERE IN DOUGLASVILLE, I , DON'T THINK WE WILL HAVE RACING TODAY THEN AGAIN CAN'T MAKE A CALL BECAUSE THAT IS UP TO BRIAN DUKE AND THE DUKE FAMILY.

SO WE SHALL WAIT, AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS, HE WILL BE LETTING US KNOW ABOUT 2:30 PM. REMEMBER THIS IS CRAZY WEATHER, IT MAY TURN HOT AND THE SUN POP OUT, BUT LOOKING AT RADAR, IT LOOKS LIKE WE ARE GOING TO GET SOME HEAVY RAIN.

SEE YOU LATER, AND MORE NEWS UPDATES COMING,

THANKS

THE END IS NOT HERE YET FOLKS

OR IS IT?

“THE END OR IS IT THE END?, WHO KNOWS, ONLY THE SAMMI REALLY KNOWS, AND I DON’T MEAN SAMMY”

I thought the END of racing season had arrived for historic West Georgia Speedway, and I knew that Sammy was closing earlier than he has ever closed.

What I did not know was that he CHANGED his thinking, is that possible? for Sammy Duke to change his mind?

The way this goes down is that Sammy Duke told me on the phone that Saturday Sept. 19th, 2009 was the end of the racing season.

So I believed him and prepared to be ready to change my work habits and find some extra work, after all that is what I do, I mean I am a freelance photographer. So I go with the flow, and that’s the way life is.

Ok now this is what we hear and what we know, Racing at West Georgia Speedway will GO ON in a regular show, THIS WEEKEND.

THE TRACK WILL BE CLOSED THE NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT, BECAUSE MOST CARS WILL BE AT THE STATE RACE AT EAST ALABAMA SPEEDWAY.

THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY IN OCT. SAMMY WILL CONTINUE WITH RACING FOR AT LEAST 2 MORE RACES, THEN THE SEASON WILL COME TO A CLOSE.

THAT’S ALL THE NEWS THAT WE HAVE FOR NOW, IF YOU NEED ANY MORE INFO CALL ME AT 770-361-3019 AND I CAN FILL YOU IN ON WHAT I KNOW, SO THAT YOU WILL BE IN THE LOOP.

THANKS,

THE SEASON ENDS AT WEST GA. SPEEDWAY

RACING SEASON ENDS September 19 or could end on the 26”
SAMMY DUKE THANKS ALL THE FANS AND DRIVERS OF THE 2009 SEASON

Whatever the case maybe Sammy Duke has told me that the gates and all racing will end on September 19th 2009. That will finish this seasons racing season.

Crate cars, NO MORE CRATE CARS RACING will be held next year, Sammy is closing this class.

I am sure this will not make those great Crate cars drivers happy at all.

What do you think?

As for as the season if it ends this weekend it will be sad but we have seen some great racing and the fans have been great.

I will miss all the drivers and all the hard racing action, I am not looking forward to racing season ending, because I have not only found some great friends, but I have met some wonderful drivers.

What I will miss the most is speaking with drivers and getting to know them down deep. I have been blessed in filming racing, not only at West Georgia Speedway but from legendary tracks like Seven Flags Speedway, and Senoia (asphalt).

Racing has been a major part of my life, and making a driver smile has been what I have always wanted to do. Some drivers I have gotten to know and have had the time to really write about them and that is something I will always be happy for, thank you for letting me into your racing world.
So as far as I know, and from what Sammy Duke told me on September 15, 2009, from his own lips, he said this Saturday night will end the season, and the finish will have a powder puff race and also a spectator race to finish the season.

Remember NO more Crate cars Next year, so driver’s thanks for every thing and all that you have done to help me.

I hope that we can meet again next season, or down the road at another track.

As for as the blog goes every one of my blogs will continue and when there is NO racing season, we shall have stories of races that I have filmed in the past. I will have plenty of time to view races and watch some close action and each week I will be writing about the races that I will be watching, give you some examples, maybe I will look back at a great modified mini car race, and I will be taking apart the entire race, and writing about it. Or maybe it will be a Hobby feature or a Enduro race, throw in a crate race and finish every week with a Sportsman race and I should have plenty of things to write about and I just hope you enjoy reading these ongoing Blogs.

Remember I still have DVD’s of races in the past and they are for sale at bargain basement prices, so if you need a race or two I will be more than happy to make a great deal with any driver or fan. Just get me a date of a race and I will throw in a free copy.

Thank YOU, for all the wonderful time you have helped me through, and if I can help you in any way PLEASE call me or order what you need. Please remember I am still a Freelance Photographer and I work all kinds of events, just call me and I will work out a deal with you, your family or your friends.
Thank you again, and MAY GOD ALWAYS BLESS YOU!

CHANGE AS ALWAYS

"CHANGE OF THE ORDER OF RACING SATURDAY, FROM CRATE TO SPORTSMAN CHAMPIONSHIP, NEXT SATURDAY THE SPORTSMAN ARE RUNNING THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP RACE BE THERE."

Just want everyone to know that I was unaware as you were, that there would not be a Crate Car Championship at West Georgia Speedway on Sept.12,2009, it was changed by Sammy Duke, and instead of running the Crate cars he ran the Sportsman Championship, without big name drivers like Glenn McWaters, or Rucker Orr, they were elsewhere.

So all in all the race was easily won by #11 Ryan Law from Piedmont Alabama, and in 2nd came in #73 Jason Williams and coming in 3rd was long time favorite driver #25 Scott Duffey.

Surprise , was on my face as I heard of the change, they had enough Crate cars, lacking were that of Tony Kemp who was racing elsewhere.

The race was won by car #88 and I will have to get all the facts on him as soon as I can.

In the Hobby car race 3 cars started and 3 cars finished, what a night, the winner was #071
followed by # and in 3rd place #14

The modified Mini race was won by again #07 Frank Long, with #16 Huie Stewart really making it a show.

The Enduro race was won by long time track champion, #M4 Winford Minnix in his purple people eating machine, having a chance to win, but getting caught up in a wreck was that of young up and coming driver, #55 Steven Parker, who came out of turn 2 and somehow got involved in a wreck, the wreck was unavoidable, and you could see that Steven was upset, but don't worry he will return and show what he is made up of and WIN the big race.

Last I will not go into anymore detail than what I am saying now, I came to the race track Saturday night with a "Heavy heart", I have been in pain for several days and I was hoping there was nothing wrong, but my heart and chest and left arm have been hurting so very bad, that I am tempted to take myself to a emergency room, or maybe a doctors office. I have lived 59 years now and I hoped to live a few more years but the strain of lifting and carrying my video equipment is taking a toil on my heart. I know this means nothing to any of my readers, but I am asking for one thing and that is prayer, I love every driver I have ever met, I enjoy the crews and families and I love dirt track racing so much. I write as much as I can and I love to speak with the drivers, I feel like they are my extended family members.

If my heart continues to hurt, and I am in pain, I may have to give up something I love and that is video taping the great races at West Georgia Speedway. BUT don't count me down and out now as I still have the love to be there and do a great job. All I am asking from you as a reader as a personal friend, as someone who I really admire is that you pray for me, I really don't want to check out early on anyone, more so my dear wife, who needs me, and I need her.

I promise that if I don't check out of this old world, I will be filming some of Georgia best drivers and writing about them in books that I have started, but until them pray for me, and I hope that you win at everything you do in life.

NEXT YEAR SAMMY TOLD ME DIRECT THAT THERE WILL BE NO MORE CRATE CARE RACING AT WEST GEORGIA SPEEDWAY, DRIVERS WILL HAVE TO MOVE UP TO SPORTSMAN AND RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS.

more later,

Thanks Tino

Hobby Championship WILD WILD NIGHT Aug 5, 09

Sammy's Tractor waits as the water truck makes sure the track has some water on it

Water on a dry track, means for great racing, here Blant Duke drives the water truck through the Pit area

"WILD, WILD, WILD, WILD NIGHT AT WEST GEORGIA SPEEDWAY "

How many of you fans sat down to watch the race Saturday night, or were you all standing and cheering for your favorite driver.

From the Modified Mini race to the pure mini race, there was action everywhere and in every class and feature.

The Modified Mini’s put on their own show, and even though there was no Richard Bagby or Frank Long racing, you still had a fantastic show. And Oxford Georgia was being promoted by the young and super crazy and nice “Huie Stewart”, who is a real driver that knows when to GO and knows when to take it slow.

Huie is a CHAMPIONSHIP driver, and he is a all time winner, except for last weekend where he came in last. This weekend the Oxford Georgia native did not have the lead, but hey friends, he passed all the modified mini cars and he was on his way to another West Georgia Speedway WIN.

When it comes down to crunch time Huie is always there at the end of a race, and like winning and taking the checkered flag.

He did have some competition Saturday night with drivers like #5 Michael Rose and #11 Charles Lancaster.

The fans were cheering loudly as Huie crossed in front of the flag stand to take another win. He told me in a pre-race conversation maybe he wins when there are big races like Tony Stewart does. Whatever until Richard Bagby returns or Frank Long, if Huie is there at the Burg, I know who has the best shot at winning. Some guy from Oxford Georgia named Huie Stewart.

The Modified Mini finish went as follows:

Winning #16 Huie Stewart

2nd place went to #5 Michael Rose

And in 3rd place #11 Charles Lancaster

Then it was time for the ENDURO Feature

The drivers were back and ready to race, back was long time champion Winford Minnix in his #M4 machine, also back racing was young and talented #55 Steven Parker. I do not believe in seen #12 Gary Brand, and maybe this was because it was a holiday weekend.

All I do know is when the green flag dropped #02 driven by Hoke Duke took the lead; following him was long time East Alabama Champion #A18 of Mike Archer. #M4 Winford Minnix was racing as hard as he could but he had car troubles and that would knock him out of the race, and that was that. So if you thought the race was over forget it, because down in the pit infield next to turn one was a Alabama wild woman, waving a White towel, twisting it and turning it and waving her husband on, who was her husband?
Non other than young Steven Parker, and he finally did what he was going to do 2 weeks ago, and that was drive a smooth race, making sure to stay out of the wrecks and be there at the end of the race to challenge the leaders.
Steven drove an incredible race and he showed why he is up and coming and growing in his field.
When the race was over, you had a winner being #02 of Hoke Duke and coming in 2nd place was #A18 of Michael Archer, followed in 3rd by #55 Steven Parker of Team Twisted Racing.

The Alabama wild woman was Tina Parker the other half of Team Twisted Racing. She is Stevens’s number 1 pit crew chief.

Then there was Hoyt Carter in the stands, never seen his son Jeff Carter race but hitched a ride with Jeff's wife Lisa and was there at the track watching his first dirt car race, he had a favorite driver and that was his son Jeff Carter in the famous #3 car that would be racing in the Championship race. Who says just young fans come to races, Hoyt is only 76 and he works hard everyday of his life and never misses a days work. He is never late, and always works hard, maybe that is where Jeff Carter gets his strengh.

Family values, and Fun, that is why fans young and old and in between come to West Georgia Speedway, because this is racings complete historic dirt track, and where there is dirt there is also plenty of action.

THEN THE HOBBY CHAMPIONSHIP FEATURE BEGAN

The crowd was ready for this 30 lap feature that had some of the best of Georgia’s Hobby car drivers lined up. They ranged from the young gun of #01 Blant Duke to the Veteran driver of #95 Todd Scarborough, and then you has some premier drivers like #3 of “Big” Jeff Carter known as “The Magic Man”. If that was not enough to fill the field there was #31 of Blake Griffin and another veteran #03 of Buck Williams. Then there was the champion of the early part of the season and he was #29 Randy Johnson, who won earlier in the year beating Blant Duke in one of West Georgia Speedways best hobby car championship races.

The crowd was standing from the dropping of the green flag to the checkered flag, and everyone was on their feet, I mean this was a Championship race and it was one like you have never seen before.

If you wanted to see beating and banging, this was your race, as cars were being beat on, and some moved and others refused. This was Georgia down in the dirt style racing, hard and intense and no one was giving in.

Jeff Carter was blocking Blant Duke who was beating on Jeff every chance he could, but Carter being the top driver he was not giving in to anything, he was hanging on and that was making Blant mad. Later in the race, Jeff found his car in turn three, and there he had some choice words for Brian Duke, who came over to help him and make sure he was alright. All my camera could do was focus in on Carter with his big finger stuck in Brian Duke’s face, it was a mess, and then what was worse was seeing Jeff’s new car being pulled around the track by Sammy Duke and his faithful Ford tractor. With Jeff riding on back, it was a scene you don’t see every Saturday night.

When the race resumed again Blake Griffin had the lead and the only cars that were chasing him were drivers like #29 Rusty Johnson, #01 Blant Duke and #95 of Todd Scarborough
Hanging with them were the ever present driver Buck Williams in his #03 car, but causing so many accidents was a driver I call “Mr. Danger”, #16 James Taylor and his is not a singer.
Also in the race was car #B1 of Clifton Moran, known a “Hog Head”.

The race began and it became another battle with Duke making sure Johnson went into the wall, who was at fault? All I can say it was what I call HARD racing.

After the 30 laps were run, flying past the flag stand and taking the checkered flag for the Hobby Championship win was #31 Blake Griffin.

Coming in 2nd was #29 Rusty Johnson and #01 Blant Duke 3rd place, BUT WAIT! , a fight between drivers and crews broke out and the tech man, Disqualified Blant Duke as well as Rusty Johnson.
So that gave 2nd place to Todd Scarborough, and guess what #03 of Buck Williams finished in 3rd place.

CONGRAGULATIONS TO THE 2009 HOBBY CAR CHAMPION #31 BLAKE GRIFFIN, who lead every lap from start to finish, he is West Georgia Speedways Hobby car TOP GUN for the 2009 season.

NOW IT WAS CRATE CAR TIME

Everyone was settling down and calming their nerves after a Hobby feature that had everything, put it this way there was know way the crate race could be better, but wait, could it?.

When the crate cars lined at everyone seemed to know to know that this race would be dramatic. We were about to see some real racing from some of the best Crate car drivers.

The line up had fan favorite #16 Tony Kemp on the pole and next to him was young #89 Carey Smith, in row 2 was #19 Jeremy Hall behind Kemp and on the inside boxed in was #14 Pete Cochran, and that was not a good sign. Behind all of those crates were #32 Troy Dixon and the young son of Pete Cochran #28 Petey Cochran running in a full field of cars.

When the green flag dropped, Smith was in the lead for a brief few minutes until Tony Kemp showed his car was the car to beat, but wait, Kemp and Smith tangled in the corner, both cars would remain in the race, which was great to see.

When the green fell again, racing was like it was supposed to be, pure exciting. Cochran who does not like second place had to battle Kemp hard, this was racing. Then with so much happening Pete’s car slammed into turn 2 and went sideways, and he slowly got out of his car to survey the damage, but there was no more racing left in his car as he had to be towed off the track.
What was wild was the finish, and it was strange in itself.
But winning and in one of his hardest races was #16 Tony Kemp,
Coming in 2nd place was #32 of Troy Dixon and believe it or not finishing 3rd was #28 Petey Cochran, making sure a Cochran finished in the top 3 of drivers.

Congratulations Tony on a battle in this hard fought Crate race.

.Without a break for intermission, the Sportsman cars came onto the track to line up and everyone was ready to run.

Starting on the pole was #99 Rucker Orr, and next to him was the pride of Piedmont Alabama, #11 Ryan Law, followed in line by #13 of Roger Cassell and also #1 of Ben Hill, I would never leave out the famous #K17 of Mark Knight or #25 of Scott Duffey.
The race featured other cars, but for now we are sticking with these top drivers.

Ben Hill was looking to pull off an upset and beat Rucker Orr, as was Ryan Law. But when you race at West Georgia Speedway you better bring the best car you have are you are backing up.

When Orr shows up at a track he is always ready to run, when Glenn McWaters showed up, you know we will see some of the best racing in the South. The trouble was Glenn McWaters was not at the track he was enjoying himself with friends and family at Atlanta Motor Speedway, watching those NASCAR guys. I wonder if Glenn ever wanted to race NASCAR. We all know he has the talent, then again Glenn is the king of the dirt tracks and I bet he could even beat Tony Stewart if they raced head to head.

But tonight was not about Glenn McWaters it was about racing hard and getting ready for the Sportsman Championship race coming up a week after the Crate Championship this weekend.

As I said Ryan Law was at the speedway, and he knows it would take a lot to beat Rucker at a track that Orr seems to dominate.

All I can say was when the green flag fell, and the race was on, Orr was leading and it does not take long for 25 laps to pass when you have such fast cars. You think you are in a wild storm of dust, as cars whiz by and everyone takes deep breaths when cars even slightly go sideways, you hang on and watch, and wonder who is going to win.

Then you see the flag man waving the checkered flag and the race is over, and who is your winner? On this August 5th 2009 night at West Georgia Speedway your winner was again car #99 of Rucker Orr
Finishing 2nd was #11 Ryan Law

And in 3rd place was #13 of Roger Cassell.

You think the night is over for Rucker Orr , NO WAY, as he was protested by #11 Ryan Law, and after hours and hours Law walked away $600 poorer than he was at the start because everything in Orr’s engine was legal, and Orr was a little happier collecting the winners cash and also the protest money, Law was infuriated.

Then it was time to run the Pure Mini cars a class of their own style.

Starting on the pole was #55 Mary Lee Chapman, next to her #D7 of Brandon Bright, when the green flag flew it was like someone had turned on the water and everyone was racing except for Mary Lee who was backsliding her way to the back of the pack of cars, it was great that no one was in a wreck because this could have been serious.
Car #77 a blue car, the driver is unknown to myself at this time was hitting everything that could move and he was a drivers nightmare, ask #21 Randy Brady Sr. who would take a wild spin that would put him out of the race.
Also having trouble was #88 of Rocky Johnson who was having his own problems.
But when the checkered waved, finishing first was #D7 Brandon Bright
In 2nd place was #M1 Wayne Bridges
And in 3rd place #16 Eran Lancaster

All I can say is I can’t wait till Saturday night for the Crate Car championship lets see if the big guns return.

Thanks to everyone,

History at West Georgia Speedway

Sammy Duke Welcomes all race fans, to West Georgia Speedway home of Champions!

“HILL, ORR, MCWATERS, LAW BATTLE BIG TIME”

This weekend, the HOBBY cars will line up and race for their Championship race the last for 2009 season, and it plans to be a big race, with some really great drivers, in the show This is going to be West Georgia Speedways best race, and a feature that will have some really class drivers, those you cheer for and those you don’t. What ever the case these are the best of the best and they will put on a racing feature that you will always remember.

Jeff Carter will be there, Blant Duke will be there, Joe Hillman could make the show, Lee McElwanyne who is always tough will be racing. Do not forget Todd Scarborough in his super fast #95, this is going to be a SHOOT OUT and the best HOBBY Car driver will be walking away with some serious cash and a great nights work put away.

We will be missing #69 Roscoe Collins, who was always a champion and was always a winner, wish he could be at the Speedway, but he has other plans so someone else is going to win the big race of the night.
Another driver that will not make the show is Jason Causey, whose motor blew last, and that has taken him out for the season. He will be back so please, don’t worry, Jason is a winner and winners do not quit.

Also we should have the Enduro feature again this weekend, no championship as that was won by Frank Long, and we can now say, he is West Georgia Speedways all time Modified Mini Champion driver for the year 2009. What about next year, can he take the heat if long time winner Richard Bagby returns in a new car next season? It is hard to keep a winning driver down, and I know Richard veins are filled with red clay, dirt, and racing is in his blood so I expect him to return to West Georgia Speedway and become the Champion we all know Richard to be. What about Huie Stewart, from Oxford Georgia will be ready to put on a show in the Modified Mini race this weekend, last weekend he ran last, and that is not like Huie.

Sammy Duke is going to cut the Crate car division OUT, so there will be no more crate car racing at West Georgia Speedway, so drivers will have to move up to Sportsman or move down in class or less race somewhere else. Those 2 car features can be annoying and boring and no fun for anyone, and there is no way Sammy is going to run Crates again.

We hope to see Steven Parker back at West Georgia Speedway this weekend, in the Enduro feature, along with Winford Minnix, who for some strange reason did not make the show last weekend. When Winford is not running something is wrong.

I am hoping to see Lee Owensby and Blake Duke and also Minnix and Parker in the class Enduro feature. If they are there we are in for some top notch racing action.

When the Sportsman run, we are about to see one of the best racing battles in a long time as rumor has it, Glenn McWaters #G1 could be hanging it up and retiring from racing because his wife will be giving birth to a baby and I am sure Glenn will want to spend as much time as he can with their new child. I am going to hate not seeing the famous #G1 on the track every Saturday night, but I am sure that every now and then, he may return and that will let us know the fire of this little man who drives such a fast race car.
I look for him to WIN his last race at The Burg Saturday Night, if you are a racing fan plan on being there please.

As for as Ben Hill goes, I don’t think he is going to let Rucker Orr push him around anymore, Ben comes from a long line of racing family members, who are still racing. And if he has anything to say he can pull off a win and beat Rucker Orr in Orr’s on pay out track. Everything should be set, for the McWaters vs. Orr battle, but don’t count out Ben Hill or even Ryan Law, or what about Jason Williams. You have some of Georgia’s best sportsman car drivers and you will see them in action this Saturday Night at West Georgia Speedway, and if I were you I would try and plan on bringing some friends because this is going to be the race of all time.

If every you planned on coming to a race, this weekend will be your time to be there, because not only will the Hobby cars have their final Championship race, but, we may be seeing history if McWaters is really retiring from racing. If he is Glenn wants to go out with a WIN and not a loss. So you have several real reasons to be at the track, one because the Hobby cars are running the Championship race and two because you may see some real Sportsman racing history in the making.

From everyone at West Georgia Speedway, we thank you all, and from myself “Tino” from Plus Photography, I pray that you will be at the track to support your local drivers and be with other dirt track fans.

Thanks for everything, and remember DVD’s of the races are still for sale at $20 per DVD later in the season I will be running some super specials, so hang in there for that.

Thanks,
