GREAT NIGHT, COLD WEATHER GREAT WINNERS

West Georgia Speedway opened with a air of warmth in the air prior to the race, and closed with COLD weather in the 20's.

Racing was happening, drivers were there and were ready for the new season, drivers like #99 Rucker Orr was ready, so was #25 Scott Duffy, then there was #73 of Jason Williams, then we had #90 Michael "Mouth" Keener, who was ready to rumble with the sportsman cars.

Also there and racing, was #33 of Brian Reese and his over sized new hauler truck. Some interesting drivers were #89 of Carey Smith, a young man with loads of talent. Carey was running his sportsman car, and when he cranked it up, you could tell he was not running a crate motor.

In the Modified Mini class was none other than a fan favorite #07 of Frank Long a long time modified mini champion.

Not racing was long time winner #6 Richard Bagby, who will be racing in a different class this year, what I have no idea.

In Super Street, we had a 3 car race, featuring #3 Jeff Carter, "The Magic Man" who now has the car that has what it takes to win.

Also in the race was one of the hardest chargers in racing, #01x Cory Hillman a chip off the old Hillman block. He races to win, and during the Super Street the battle was on ,with great drivers both battling for the lead and the first season checkered flag in this new race.

This was racing at it's best, both drivers not wanting to give a inch of ground, at the end Cory lost a cylinder and was running on 6 and that meant he was not able to keep up with Jeff.

So Jeff Carter went on to take the first checkered flag of the new racing season at West Georgia Speedway, the "Magic Man" is back and ready to win more and more races.
The Sportsman race was going to be great, I thought we would have Rucker Orr on
track with Scott Duffy, and Ben Hill, Jason Williams, and Brian Reese, not to mention Michael Keener.

Then it happened as I was filming, I kept waiting for Rucker to pull his #99 on the track but low and behold he was loading his car back up, this was all due to not having the lights for qualifying working. So without qualifying Rucker did not want to place his car on a track where he would be somewhere in the middle of the pack.

So he packed up and loaded and left.

That was alright because we still had Scott Duffy, and Jason Williams and Brian Reese and Ben Hill, and or course Michael "Mouth" Keener, not to mention Shane Criswell.

Sometimes you have to start where you can and not always on the pole and always have a clear shot at winning, maybe you need to be hungry and ready to win and and when you race from the back and win you have become one of the elite drivers in Dirt Track racing.

Drivers in the Sportsman feature did not let the cold fans down, as they battled around the old "Burg", "Mouth" took the lead and was racing hard to stay ahead of Shane Criswell, who was followed hard by Scott Duffy and in 4th place running hard was Jason Williams.

The race went on, until late in the race Ben Hill crossed paths with Brian Reese and sent Brian up in the wall where he crashed his car and looks like it will need lots of repairs.

Hill would not be injured but his car was in need of bad repair, the body was torn up and he looked like he needed to take it to the local land fill.

One of the CLASS drivers #25 Scott Duffy pulled along side Brian Reese car and sat there until Brian gave Scott a thumbs up, meaning he was ok, now that was class. Scott had nothing to do with the wreck he was more worried about his fellow driver.

When the green flag dropped again, Michael Keener was still leading and tearing up the track, but he was being followed by Jason Williams and Scott Duffy who would not back down.

As the night ended and the Checkered Flag waved high in the air it was Michael "Mouth" Keener winning and coming in second was #73 of Jason Williams and in 3rd place was #25 of Scott Duffy.

All I can say is lets get back to WARM WEATHER PLEASE!!!!!!

The results in order were :

Modified Mini #07 Frank Long

# 3 Todd Brewster

# 10 Michael Boyd

Hobby #77 Russell Bright

# 1 Robert Ingram

# M4 Winford Minix

Super Street # 3 Jeff Carter

# 01x Cory Hillman
# 40 Andy Morris

Sportsman #90 Michael "Mouth" Keener

#73 Jason Williams

#25 Scott Duffy

Didn't want to start in the middle of the pack, huh? Seems like that's where you'd have to use a little talent rather than speed.
