WEST GEORGIA STILL ALIVE AND RACING, TILL WHEN???

West Georgia Speedway will continue its winning ways as drivers are asked to come back to the track on Saturday November 20, 2010 for another Saturday night of racing thrills at the “Burg”.

The last time the cars hit the track it was a B-Cadet super race featuring 14 cars all trying to capture that $600 in cash. Big name drivers came, as well as the local gang. Some cars had what it took to make the 30 laps while others just did not have the motor. This late in the season most cars have been damaged and not in pure clean racing form. They have been beat and bruised and look sick.

Some cars stay that way, because drivers don’t ever take the time to fix them up because they know that they will get damaged in the race some time or other.

When we look at Hobby Car winner Carey Smith, I mean when he was in his hot laps his car was smoking and it looked like a bad night for Carey.

When the Hobby feature rolled around, it was Carey Smith in his #89 car that started on the pole and was in a dramatic battle with #99 Ronnie Poole, I mean a side by side, pass me if you can race. Rounding turn two Poole got into Carey sending Carey’s car spinning. That would make Brandon Duke tell Poole to get to the back of the pack, and when that happened it was all Carey Smith as he blistered the clay at West Georgia Speedway.

When that race finished, we were treated to a Sportsman clash of giants like Jason Williams in his famous #73 car but in the race also were drivers like #25 of Scott Duffy not to mention #19 of Michael Paige, plus more cars that Jason had to contend with.

But when Williams is in the race, you had better have brought your best car, because Jason is been known as “Racing Jason” and he proves it all the time. He can and will out drive any driver, he has the car and the talent. So when you come to race and Williams is in the field I would really run hard.

When the $600 to win, B-Cadet race was on the line, all eyes from the grandstands had their eyes on #B7 of Billy Bright Jr. but this was not to be Billy’s night to when. Neither was it for #01J of “Super” Joe Hillman, who always makes his presence, known where ever he races. Then you had #29 of Rusty Johnson, who is known to win BIG races when the cash is there.
Don’t count out #47 of Jason Causey another winner who late in the race would get tangled up with Billy Bright taking Bright out of the race. Something his fans hated to see. What know one expected was the way a yellow beat up car #22 proved he was the driver to beat and that was “Sir” William Blair, should you count him out, no way?

Blair put on a drivers clinic as he out battled, Billy Bright Jr out muscled Jason Causey and made it hard for Joe Hillman to pass, and I know that’s all Joe was looking for was one slip up, but Blair would not let it happen not even once.

Other great drivers like #3 Jeff Carter’s just did not have the car it would take to win the big race, and that was a shame, Carter has always been a fan favorite and drives like he means it. He is not the cheating driver and never goes out of his way to take another driver out of a race but Jeff has been in some crazy wrecks, most of those were racing accidents and he could not avoid.

All in all, racing at West Georgia Speedway was exciting, maybe a little cool, but I am sure the drivers never felt it once they were strapped into their race cars and thinking about what was about to happen.

I want to THANK the drivers that have purchased a DVD of the races at WEST GEORGIA SPEEDWAY, because you and you know who you are have made my wife and my THANKSGIVING come to life again, as some of you know my wife has been very sick, so sick that sometimes she can’t eat, and sometimes she can. Well to get to the point, it was with your blessings of $20 and buying a DVD from me that I was able to secure a Thanksgiving dinner prepared by Publix so she did not have to work in the kitchen, and we could sit down and give thanks to all you great drivers and friends. I thank you again, and may GOD always BLESS YOU.

So to everyone, please have a Safe Holiday and a Blessed day….

Many Thanks,
