First Race at Senoia and at Little River

NEW SENOIA RACEWAY SPRING FLING - THIS SATURDAY 40-Lap Special for the Late Models $2000 to win!!! Plus - Kid's Candy Scramble MIKE WHEELER AUTOMOTIVE & TRANSMISSION LATE MODELS CROWN SECURITY CRATE LATE MODELS NEWNAN BONDING B CADET SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT HOBBY STOCK MINI STOCK New Senoia Raceway kicked off the 2011 racing season with a BANG, the weather was a little cool but that still did not stop the fans who packed the grandstands. Drivers you could tell were ready to get back to what they do best and race and win. Tim and Tony Moses and the complete staff were great, some rules have changed but that is to be expected. I filmed all of 2010 season at Senoia and now I am back doing what I love. This time racing at Senoia is going to be fun in more ways than one, more things for the fans and children and lots of racing action in every class. Gone this year are the modified mini cars, for now, Gone or the Bomber class, so you have B-Cadet racing action with some of the greatest drivers from The Legend Billy Bright Sr. and his son The Hot Shot Billy Bright Jr. and then you have Blake Griffin a driver that wins some of the biggest races when he is in them. Plus extra drivers, that put on a show for everyone. Jump to the Hobby feature and you know you are in for some of the best hobby car racing in the south, drivers like #41 Scott Sherrer known as “The Champ” races with fury. Bring in new comer #K1 Kip Stanfill that was a long time champion driver at the now closed Seven Flags Speedway. He will race you clean and you know it was so good seeing Kip back on a track and we look forward to him racing again this weekend. Then you have the rough and tuff drivers that seem to never give you a break like Clifton Moran who drives like a wild man. Moran is not used to losing and if he can win he will try it any way he can. I will now talk about a man that when his car is in the race always has a chance to win, and that is Winford Minix in his #M4 car. Winford was not racing Saturday because he had clutch problems. The hobby feature was really the most exciting race of the night with a finish of a green white checkered finish, with Scott Sherrer taking another win. This time the crowd was not all cheering but so what a win is a win and that’s the way it is. Then it was time for the Crate cars to pull out on the track and there were several that looked like winners but as in everything there can be only one winner. Drivers like, “The Zero Hero” Craig Scott was racing and so was young and talented #M96 Marty Lunsford was racing. But no one counted on a driver from Phoenix City Alabama to lead all the way and close the deal he was Russ Olgetree, and like I said a s amazing an Alabama driver took the first Crate race of 2011 at Senoia. The highlight reel was when everyone went into turn one and young and talented Tim Bright Jr in his bright Orange and white #T7 Jr. car spun and the car behind him could not checkup thus rolling the #54 car on his roof while Tim Bright shook up but he was able to continue in the race. Man after that excitement bring on the Pure Pony Class, drivers like young #4 Dusty Jones and #00 Matt Black plus #54 of Bo Chambers made the pure mini class exciting, these young men start on the ground floor of racing but you know they drive like hobby are limited late model drivers. The race looked like a run away with Dusty Jones but his car’s engine went south, and he was passed by #00 Matt Black who was sporting a Orange race car this year, he was setting the pace and was giving it the best he had, Matt had told me he wanted to win the first race of 2011 but that was going to take some BIG driving. The driver that would go up in flames and I mean up in flames with flames blazing from his motor looked so cool in the night was giving it his all and that was Bo Chambers who raced Matt to the checkered flag with flames shooting from his car, thinking he could pass Matt on the last lap it looked like he would but young Black drove under the waving checkered flag and took the first win of the season at Senoia Raceway of 2011. A driver that did not make the show was #16 Stephen Hill, who would have been a force but he will be at Senoia this weekend. Drivers to start the Limited Late Model race were top drivers like #03 of Oliver Gentry, #54 Mike Head, #18c of Shane Criswell, #25 Scott Duffy,#27 Doug Stephens, and more all except #99 Rucker Orr who’s car broke in Qualifying and he never would make the race. This had to be a bitter pill for Rucker to take, all the time effort and he has gone through and then his car breaks down. One thing could be said maybe it had better break in this race rather than this weekend 40 lap Late Model 2 thousand dollars to win race. THE BIG ONE, racing for this much will bring some of the best drivers back to Senoia like missing driver Little Joe Armistead, Shane Fulcher, and more even some Alabama drivers. This is going to be a great show and the fans should show up in droves, with the weather looking great with a high in the 80’s and lows in the 50’s so we will have some really great racing action.
